The Douglas DC-3 is a fixed-wing, propeller-driven aircraft that was first introduced in 1936. It is widely regarded as one of the most important transport aircraft in aviation history and is often referred to as the "granddaddy of modern airliners." The DC-3 was a game-changer in the aviation industry, as it was the first commercial airplane that could make a profit solely by carrying passengers.
The DC-3 has a twin-engine, low-wing design and can carry up to 32 passengers or 6,000 pounds of cargo. It has a range of approximately 1,500 miles and a cruising speed of around 180 mph. The aircraft is powered by two Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp radial engines, each producing 1,200 horsepower.
The DC-3 was built to be sturdy and reliable, and its robust design made it ideal for military use during World War II. In fact, it was the military version of the DC-3, the C-47, that played a crucial role in the D-Day invasion of Normandy in 1944.
Today, many DC-3s are still in operation, and the aircraft is highly regarded by aviation enthusiasts for its historical significance and enduring legacy.

The sound of the motors was unique, and it made voices sound unique - like they were vibrating in unison with the engines. If you let it, it could put you to sleep faster than a night in a railroad car clicking along a long track. Love it❤
