I just finished making this using an old blackout curtain that I got for £4 from a charity shop, and it's looking pretty good if I do say so myself :-) The last final stitch around the outer edges can be a bit tricky, so I found it helped just to baste the inner lining to the back panel, then stitch the front panel onto those two.

The video shows that the zipper end panel has 4 cut, 2 for main fabric, and 2 for lining fabric. Though on the pattern itself, it calls forr main fabric cut 2, No mentionn of zipper end panels lining cuts. FYI

Finished this bag today, it came out great even though I shrunk my fabric after dying it. I just cut down all the lining and adjusted the lengths of the zippers. Somehow it all came together and it looks great. I used a white canvas, dyed it charcoal grey and waxed the pack when it was all assembled.

Can you elaborate on why you waxed it? :)

I’m a novice when it comes to sewing 😅 but how would you suggest downsizing the bag a little? I LOVE the pattern but I feel it may be a tad too big 🤷🏻♀️

I tried it tonight but I wasn't successful. I got stuck after the 2nd zipper. Are there written instructions with illustrations?😑

I made mine yesterday. It was easy and fun till the end. I could not get the separate back lining panal to fit. I Endend up cutting it away so I have one big opening which I can acces by two zippers. 😅

thanks for the tutorial and pattern! this bag is huge!! ive been wanting a big fanny pack for a while and this was perfect. some critique on the tutorial, accidentally used the wrong zipper first because the video didnt specify, so had to make do with the 2nd one. when i was sewing the first bulk part (the front part of the bag) you didnt specify if i should be sewing the divider together with it, until i took a closer look to the video. mine came out decent, except for a few areas where there wasnt enough fabric or i did or didnt sew the seam far enough so you could still see the ends of the fabrics. the area with the zipper ends were pretty finicky, kinda had to wing it and the divider fabric got sewn on it when it wasnt supposed to. and idk if it was me, (i followed the video to a t) but i sewed the strap "backwards" and had to reinsert the fasteners after. didnt have a serger or bias tape but this video made me feel like i needed to, but iirc you said it was optional (?). besides that, the video was good, clear and short instructions for each step. for those considering making this, itll take some time but the tutorial will walk you through it perfectly. i'd say this is for between beginner and intermediate level, you need to know some terms and have already sewn a few things, but totally doable after. ive bought some of his other patterns and i cant wait to tackle them too. had to mess with my printer settings though before getting them printed at the right size. it was also really fun choosing the different colors for mine. i used cotton so its less stiff than the one he made in the video, so just a warning. i used interfacing to strengthen it a bit, and make sure to use a machine that can handle some of the tougher spots (you can also buy heavy duty needles).

I bought this pattern ages ago, printed it out, cut all the pieces, and then realized the only way to get instructions was this really fast, clunky video tutorial rather than actual pattern instructions. I so so so wish there were written steps accompanying the pattern, even if it was only a transcript of the video with select screenshots of pattern placement. I love the look of these bags but I won't be buying any other patterns 😔
