Thank you I really needed this since I’m so used to using windows shortcuts and was wondering why they weren’t working on the keyboard for our new iPad lol, I also got to learn a few new ones too Edit: I know most of the shortcuts are replacing shift with the command key, I was just dumb and didn’t realize that until now

Thanks for the tips. Can we exit split screen by a keyboard shortcut ?

In Apple Notes, when I have bullet list items, todo items, checklist items, and sentences in a note, try CNTL CMD (up or down) ARROW to move the item where the cursor is, up or down on the page. This is very handy for reordering/rearranging things on a page.

Enjoyed the video. Have a question I am hoping you can answer because I haven’t been able to find a solution. With an iPad Pro and the Magic Keyboard, when I use command Q, sometimes I get a quick note to pop up and sometimes I just get a left arrow on the right hand side of my screen and I have to drag it out to create a quick note. It doesn’t seem to matter if I am in an app or on the Home Screen or if I have the keyboard active typing something or not. I cannot figure out what triggers it one way and what triggers it the other way.

I have a short list of videos I try to review quarterly, to remind myself about things; this video just got added! Fn-Ctrl-Arrow for split-screen is FANTASTIC, that's going to help me immensely. One you didn't mention that I use a lot: my MK doesn't have an Esc key (it appears yours does?); CMD gives me Escape.

EDIT: yours has an Escape key, mine does not; odd....

Some key combo are systemwide. Others specific to context of Mx keys (Mac or Windows version). On either version, which key is Globe? if there is no Globe in that lower left, which keyboard shortcut equivalent can you use? If you want to switch between language maps of keyboard, what key combo does that?
@heidil9046Ай бұрын
The iPad screen keyboard only shows the globe key, is there another video to cover its use? Thanks!

keyboard shortcuts don‘t work properly on an external monitor - is this the problem only I am going through….? Do you guys suffer from the same problem?
@dplj442825 күн бұрын
Properly? I wondered what was proper. Apple has not twinned Mac keys to iPad. Is there a way to get a more standardized or universal keyboard setup until Apple does it? Although full keyboard access is an option in iPadOS for anyone who wants to use a physical keyboard. i guess that Apple maps some keys with shortcuts which favor navigation and action in case a person cannot use touchscreen well or not at all. Maybe a solution In Full Keyboard Access is to customize the keys that Apple lists under “Commands”. I’m thinking to do that. But first, I need a list of what is standard or universal mapping for Apple keyboards, desktop or mobile and compare them to Full Keyboard Access defaults. Also looking under other places throughout iPadOS to set Shortcuts made from key combos. - I don’t know if my customization will give me what I want. Some will say why bother. Well, I like using all the touch features on my iPad, especially for drawing. I also value the additional advantages that come with a physical keyboard. Why is any of this possible? ❤❤ Thanks to people with disabilities pushing manufacturers. Thanks for companies who for whatever reasons responded or were proactive. Thanks to everyone in the maker communities, education etc who input on the value of universal access.

I was wondering if you picked that T-shirt to pay homage to the New iPhone Pro colour we are rumoured to be getting in a few weeks. If you are going by the rumour that the new colour will match one of the new Kardashian Beats headphone colours then you are spot on.

this video is really helpful but keyboard (Logitech Pebble K380s) does not have the globe key.
@yashwardhanchandel3321Күн бұрын
You can go to settings>keyboard>hardware keyboard>modifier keys, and there enable the caps lock key to act as the globe key. This will take away your caps lock function but you can use it as the globe key, which is nice considering you can always use shift. I also have the pebble keyboard and use it like this

Great. CMD+H also brings you to the Homescreen
@VeryVocalPro2 ай бұрын
That sort of depends. My undertaking is that Cmd+H hides the existing window. So, if you only have one app open, that would work,, but if there are other apps open it may not take you back to the Home Screen.

My iPad Pro M4 (11") has basically replaced my MacBook on the road. (Magic Keyboard)
2 ай бұрын
Not a single FN/globe shortcut is working for me, so about 2 thirds of the video is unfortunately useless for me using iPad Pro M2 with the Apple keyboard. In addition I do not use Mail app and most of the others Apple native software (Don't blame me, Apple has handwriting recognition only for barely dozen languages which is a complete shame having so much cash in the bank )... (writing here (and in many other situations) arrow keys DO NOT WORK so it is impossible to move writing position trough the written text, or it starts to work but without obvious reason why it was impossible to use them seconds ago, very Pro feature indeed). I agree some of this is mostly my specific use case but still pretty much disappointed as I mostly use third party apps which are actually pretty gimmicky and unpredictable when trying to rely on the (Apple) keyboard. This is where iPad OS shows its weakness comparing it to the full Mac OS that is much more consistent and robust no matter the software not being genuine Apple product. Oh and to let iPad decide which are Volume U / Down keys depending the orientation is a complete (pardon my French) BS. What is the orientation of the device when it streams audio and it is folded or just placed on the desk and I want to volume down or up without looking... And how are blind persons feel about not being able to choose between opt in for this genius Apple engineer's invention. Enough for today. Have a nice day.

Sorry dude, but you have either mulfunctioning keyboard or you are doing something wrong. And... you wouldn't use personal vehicle to transport huge wooden logs, would you?
@TheNZOutpost2 ай бұрын
I have same problem with the FN key related shortcuts, they don’t work.
2 ай бұрын
@@igorsajn6246 I'm not quite sure how your analogy fits. There are no wooden logs involved here. The issue is with iPadOS settings, which allow the Globe button to perform different functions. This can easily create conflict with different language and keyboard layout settings. While having English layout and language settings might seem straightforward, it's a different story with more complex local keyboards. My (local language) Magic Keyboard works well, but iPadOS sometimes behaves like those glitchy low-budget gadgets from the Far East. It handles some tasks beautifully, but for others, it has frustrating bugs or limitations that feel like they were decided by someone not thinking clearly.
@igorsajn62462 ай бұрын
About analogy - iPad (even Pro) is not a workstation, business laptop, high performance and business software machine. It's just a "big phone". As you cannot expect from VW Polo to transport 5000 kg wooden logs, so you should not expect from iPad to behave and perform as a "top-tier" laptop. And if you append a keyboard to it, magic or no magic, iPad is stil an iPad. As VW Polo is still a Polo, not a heavy truck, with trailer or no trailer back on the hook.
2 ай бұрын
@@igorsajn6246 I agree, but, mentioning a workstation, are we still in the zone of shortcuts or i.e. just using keyboard existing arrow keys to navigate trough text lines? And bellow the video / channel that actively promotes iPad as a professional (productive) tool, and Apple calls (mine at least) a Pro device? Also, you've made many assumptions about how I use my iPad Pro, overlooking the real-life frustrations I experience. These frustrations stem from using an often limited and flawed UI, which isn't about top-tier capabilities but basic common sense. I'm not trying to convince you or anyone else that everything with iPad OS is wrong and bad, because it certainly not. However there are many brainless decisions, some are specific user case related, but some are pure Apple's classic BS. I see no point explaining all this any further so I'll give you my regards.
