I didn't realize it was so easy to freeze broccoli. I will have to watch for it to go on sale here. Surgery went well. Ended up in rehab for 10 days and worth it....lol I get staples out in the morning. Thank you for your prayers 🙏. I love you ♥️

I noticed here in Ontario that all the broccoli is coming just like you show it. Stemless. Where is the rest of it? I always peel the stem, cut it up into small pieces n use it in broccoli potato cheese soup.

Beautiful broccoli. Only a couple hours? Good to know. And it's that easy, excellent. It is definitely all about making it stretch these days. Thanks Beverly 😊.

That's the way to do it! Lord, I wish schools would reinstate home economics classes!! Bev, have you tried growing broccoli where you are? This year, I planted two 25' rows and my freezer is now packed with it. What I love is that once you harvest the main head, the stem will produce side shoots of small florets, and the leaves are edible and delicious, too! As for dehydrating it, yes, you can dehydrate it, but I find it works best if it's all chopped up in even smaller pieces.

Nice deal on the broccoli! It's being said that a lot of our produce is being held up at the Mexicsn border for inspections......I haven't been to the store all week so I don't know..

We have used the freezer for "preserving" sales and finds for years. I actually prefer the stems to the tops. If the stems and skins are fresh and not bitter tasting, I add them to stocks/ soups/ stews/ crock pot concoctions too. If they are strong or bitter or old, I only add in limited quantity. Depending, I remove them (or not) before serving or when de-boning and de-fatting.

I often re-use my resealable bags. As needed, I turn them inside out and wash in fresh dishwater and a c,ean dish pan. Sometimes, I thoroughly dip them in clean bleach water then rinse. I dry them by putting a bag over its own spatula or longer handled utensil.

Wonderful! I recently have thought of doing the same because the frozen veggies aren't like fresh lately, and very very expensive! Lower quality and quantity! It would be cheaper for me to freeze my own!

Hi Bev. Hello from New Zealand. I dehydrate and powder broccoli/kale/mushrooms and all the other stuff kids and hubby think are nasty and mix them in meatloaf and other meals lol. Gherkin powder is excellent just sprinkled on tomato yum. Love watching your channel and cant wait for more old receipes as I collect old receipe books.xx

I've dehydrated broccoli. It has to be BLANCHED, and then sliced evenly. I have been laying by LOTS of different types of fruit and veg dehydrated, in order to be sure we have a nice variety long term. I hope to have a space in my kitchen for jars of dehydrated fruit and veg for cooking as my usual, instead of a long term prep. It cooks up just fine. I've eaten them straight, but nothing remarkable to comment on texture on and taste, good or bad. 🤷 They're just fine and dandy! I've been enjoying my blanched, frozen beans and asparagus that I did, blanched them and laid them on a cookie sheet after they drained and cooled, and the next day, I put them into a bread bag into the freezer! So exciting! I also got a bigger bag of frozen mixed veggies for 1.30, and frozen chopped florets for $1.47, which in Maine, can be a steal! I got perogies (1.99/ea...ouch) and now I've been watching your videos, I'm feeling encouraged to combine the good deals I find with the home grown and home canned items. Fussy teenagers sometimes don't love it, but they have learned food is for surviving, not entertainment.
