I'm 54 and spent about 40 yrs in the Assemblies of God. While the practiced the Gifts, they didn't teach or encourage them. Now the Gifts have whithered in the denomination. Thank you for teaching them. There is a huge need to develop the gifts and many don't know how.

I found initiating and working on the gift strange and feel more comfortable with God initiating a word. I find it hard enough to trust its God and not me already. I don't get many prophetic words, at all, when I compare myself to those around me in the online Morning star church, but I feel my life is prophetic. E.g. I don't think it was a coincidence that I married on 14 May and am Jewish. I sometimes get interpretations of dreams, artwork, etc, but I never initiate it. It happens or it doesn't. And I am blind to understanding my own visions and dreams until they actually happen in real life, for example. Even though they are quite obvious, I realise later. I often think I shouldn't do anything with what I see. I feel it's just to wait for, or feel confirmed that God is with me when it does happen. I personally feel when I hear and see too much that it's not the Holy Spirit, but the enemy even. I nearly always have no idea what to do with it all. So I note it down and then leave it alone. If its from God He'll remind me. When others have prophecies about me, I try to fulfil them, but I realise I can't. That's weird too. Waiting seems to be the calling... with it all. ha ha... I hope I am waiting in reality and not having false hopes in life. Wasting my life on expecting what wil never come. Mmm...🤔

I was in the Vineyard in the 80's & 90's. John Paul Jackson came to our church after the Vineyard was being introduced to the prophetic in a more direct way. So he got up to speak and most of us in the church were somewhat afraid that our sins would be revealed. The first person God highlighted to him was someone everyone in the church knew. The guy stood up and you could feel the expectancy. John Paul said, "Wait, I don't like this guy." Okay, so now we were even more apprehensive. But then he said, "Just kidding," and room exploded, because the person he called out was a major practical joker. From then on, it was just very edifying night, even for those that did not get a word.

I guess time will tell if the Trump punch word was true or not. The person who prophesied makes a big thing about Christians not getting obsessed with politics. One could argue that it would be folks with a bias that would deem the word as not a true word. Certainly the guys at Remnant radio gave a balanced response to the whole dilemma. Worth a watch.

I agree Remnant radio did a very good very balanced review of it all 😊

The charismatic gifts of understanding and healing are often given a " word of knowledge." Sometimes this is referred to as "prophetic" but that might not be the correct word. Women are "allowed" to use these gifts with the healing ministry.
