It declares intoxicants to be “defilement” and an evil work of Satan, urging believers to avoid them completely. This verse established the total ban on alcohol consumption. This gradualism helps prepare society to understand the negative effects of alcohol and the importance of staying away from it. 2. Sassanids were non Abrahamic believers and the greatest conflict was the Armenians between two empires. Since many Armenians were Christians yet some of them weren't and the lands used to belong Sasanids. Two empires have had bloody wars with lots of casualties and weakened eachother. That's the main result. Some historians say if Rome stayed as capital east Anatolia wouldn't even a big problem since Rome had greater problems at north but empire had changed it's demographics. I'd suggest Susan Wise Bauer and Charles Dihels as source. Also East Rome wasn't built the same way West Rome was. It's was mostly an Eastern structured state. And the governor, emperor, was the both head of church and state and couldn't be questioned. As I remember West Rome had senate and was much more oligarchic. Maybe this let them to be soo powerful under the good governors but easily corruptive under the bad ones? This also let the Western nations embrace laicite, secularism easily since Pope and the Kings was two different people. Ottomans, Eastern Rome and many other Islamic Caliphates embraced kinda Iranic culture at that matter.

Here are some points that explain why alcohol was not prohibited before Surah Al-Ma'idah: 1. Gradual legislation: The gradual prohibition of alcohol is part of Allah's wisdom in legislating rulings. This gradualism helps prepare society to understand the negative effects of alcohol and the importance of staying away from it. 2. Dealing with reality: In the pre-Islamic society, alcohol was part of people's lives and customs. Some tribes celebrated drinking on social and religious occasions. By prohibiting it suddenly, there could have been a negative reaction or resistance from people. Therefore, the beginning was to show some benefits while warning against the harms. 3.
