Prophets of Rage (Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, Chuck D, B-Real and DJ Lord) came together during 2016’s tumultuous election to combat the coming storm. Fresh off the road and riled up following last summer’s highly successful “Make America Rage Again” tour, the group knew it could evolve from protest performance art with a tactical mission, to a stand-alone entity with creative ideas all its own. At its core, Prophets of Rage functions not only on a love of music, but a deep belief in its power as a tool, and a weapon. The group stopped by the BUILD Studio to discuss their new self-titled album.
BUILD is a live interview series like no other-a chance for fans to sit inches away from some of today’s biggest names in entertainment, tech, fashion and business as they share the stories behind their projects and passions. Every conversation yields insights, inspiration and plenty of surprises as moderators and audience members ask questions. It all happens several times a day live and live-streamed on BUILDseries.com.

Now comes the debut full-length, Prophets’ first collection of 12 original compositions that manage to be unflattering to literally everybody involved: Chuck, B-Real, Tom Morello, the rhythm section, producer Brendan O’Brien, you, me, the American discourse-everyone.

These guys forgot who "The Machine" is if they hate Trump. Its one thing to rage against the machine (DeepState) or be a prophet of rage against them, but its an entirely different thing to take them on when you didn't have to for the benefit of the common people who cant do it for themselves.
@MysteryPuke

For me it's simple. Tom Morello is looking for the next RATM band. He totally swallowed his beliefs by going out with non political Audioslave, just for profit. Now, after that he tried with Boots Riley the Street Sweeper Social Club (the best effort in my opinion, mainly the Ghetto Blaster EP) , he tried by himself, and now it's this Prophets of Rage. For the record I like the songs, I just think that there will not be another RATM like band. And Tom, TIm and Brad have to understand that making these political songs will not bring them huge profit, on the contrary. They have to decide between money and political intervention. RATM was a one off. Also, this guy Tim Commerford, yes well normal people fighting against injustice, is constantly out there defending the fraud called Lance Armstrong. A guy that symbolizes power, corruption and sickening attitude. So what the hell is he on?
@mikesvensson
@mikesvensson 6 жыл бұрын
of course he does in the sense that the world needs a soundtrack for the revolution and he's applying for the job. has NOTHING to do with money. also, they are not trying to be ratm 2, it's a new band with its own identity
