Phori is just like Dr Dre and DJ Khaled, both they don't know how to play instruments but can make drum patterns. Both have instrumentalists whom they pay to play their ideas. To me the person who came with the idea is a producer because without that Idea there will not be a record. Dr Dre has been doing that for years. Also, there is a difference between a beat maker and record producer. You can make a beat but can't mix, suggest audio engineering, arrange it better and put on a vocalist to spice up the record. That's the work of a producer. Quincy Jones gets credited for MJ's Thriller record and he never played a single instrument but was involved in making the record from stretch because he was the one who had the idea of synths that drive the record.
