I’m glad it was helpful, and that’s a great question! Basically you just draw a figure and then do careful measurements and make adjustments to make it in proportion. The act of drawing and correcting over and over will make you able to draw things in proportion. How to apply this on foreshortening poses? I seem to be able to capture the movement and feelings from the gesture but always off with proportion especially the foreshortening pose.

Knowing this, especially in the relative proportions, helps you gauge by eye of the figure looks in proportion when there is a complex pose. However, until your eye is trained, the only way to know if it is correct is to use sighting, where you compare the parts of the body to each other on your reference and adjust your drawing.
