i am a noob, like noob noob regarding drawing. i've been watching videos to kinda grasp concepts and have a clear starting point. You, Sir, are, to this date, still the best video I've ever came accross. This video was a missing part of my own drawing journey puzzle, and I hope more people will come across your content because you deserve it.

You sir are a genius. I have watched a lot of videos on anatomy but none of them clicked and few were just straight up condescending and tried to fit in too many things for a beginner. But your video oh my god. This is just perfect. It clicked & made sense and just filled up the gaps in my mental model. Thank you for making this video. This needs more than a million views.

2:30 The right side is what I’ve been stuck on. Finally someone who doesn’t just tell me to “just draw basic shapes here and there”. and provides a 10 second timelapse of them drawing the left side without any good explaination on what they’re doing.

Glad I could help! :D More to come, you can actually make it easier to transition from box mannequin to figure once you get used to it, by wrapping it all in one boxy pillow shape

the swapping out cylinders for the limbs to boxes has helped me so much. at first i couldnt understand where the top and sides and stuff of the limbs were because it can be hard to tell on images with little contrast between lighting and shading but with practice, using boxes for the limbs, getting the right orientation has become a million times easier. this is one of the best art tutorials i have ever come across, thank you so much!!!
@theartofnemo5 ай бұрын
Yeah that makes a huge difference! Though notice it's still okay to draw the cylinder first, and the box on top of it, if it's hard to figure out the box on its own

this actually helped me a lot more than the TikTok tutorials, I know how to draw a body but i usually don't start off with a shape that makes it way more confusing and harder to draw. But I am glad to see that there are actually some helpful pieces of media that can help me get better at my art, instead of learning it the hard way

tysm other anatomy tutorials are so shit and overwhelming in detail, only catering to one portion of learners and not people who need things to be broken down. it was so hard finding a good video like this they always draw right off the bat and it doesn’t help that they’re already so good. but with the way you break it into shapes and then tell us about measurements help a lot

0:46 This man knows the stuff, I'll share it with the homies because I never got used to the whole "Body is 7 heads" kind of deal. In fact, back when I was a total beginner this just caused a lot of hassle whenever I tried to draw different poses on different angles. Also, highly recommend everyone to make a version of your 3D mannequin and rig it. I know it's daunting, but just the head and torso would do it (forget about the neck too if you wish) I did this on Blender and thankfully I was able to drop the FBX export onto CSP and from there I familiarized myself with the 3D shapes of the body. I wish I did this WAY earlier, but better late than never I guess.

Thanks Nemo, you're amazing. I fin that this rule applies to all areas of art the more I delve into it: going from macro to micro is the key. When composing scenarios and paintings, for example, just blocking out the big shapes to get everything correct such as perspective, volumes, and colors, and then slowly rendering and adding more details little by litte is the way to go. The same goes for anatomy. We should focus on getting a very simple mannequin in the correct proportions and perspective, instead of trying to render a fully-fleshed out body.

This was a Fantastic video that makes things... SO MUCH EASIER on my aspect. So I have watched and practiced other techniques from Other youtubers and how I often do my structure of the body is a mix mash between various things I have learned that helped carried my art to where it is, and that I'm just getting the Anatomy a bit better (Though my bigger issues is stuff liek eyes and maybe how the character is posed). so often I to have a box torso but I try to do things like Cricle joints and circle elbows/knees, Triangle for the pelvis (Even though I feel like it's been not helping me nearly as much as it could), and so on and so fourth. Though the Circle joints does not help and usually I end up drawing my lines to where it makes more sense rather than going out of my way to follow the circle and the Triangle pelvis that I usually draw looks more flat and makes things hard on. Basically my Method that I have been using has been scuffed and I needed to find a better way to draw the basic body itself. But, how this uses the Box method through and through just blew my mind! The cylinder and the structuring just made total sense while watching this. This will certainly be something I will keep watching and practice on to make my characters look a bit more proportionate. I appreciate this video and I hope that this can help carry my art further on a proportionate level! I will make you proud!

As a beginning artist, for every 3 good looking bodies I draw, I draw 1 that is so terrible I question if I want to continue doing art. Yeah, anatomy is hard especially if you’re just starting out. The issue I got is that I want to draw BIG buff dudes since I want to design intimidating slashers and villains so a lot of anatomy has to be modified or certain things are more significant than others to make up for the drastic difference in anatomy
