Proposed new US Gun Laws

Proposed new gun laws to come in under the new President Elect Barack Obama's regime.
This is an Australian perspective from the Australian version of "A Current Affair" on 25th November 2008.

funny thing, now theyve banned knives in australia, so now (apart from your bare hands) there is no way you can defend yourself at night on the streets, and its showing up, there are A LOT of beatings and burglaries in the news, most of the people that i know in canberra (the australian capital) have been robbed atleast once, most times in broad daylight

I'm Irish and worked in the states for three years. At first, it shocked me to find out people had carry permits. To think that there might be loads of people with guns in a cafe was unnerving and then I realised that these were ordinary, honest people and if shit hit the fan; if someone tried to rob the place or if a person went crazy, it would be a law abiding American citizen already on the scene who would take down the assailant. If you wait for the cops, you're dead. Keep your guns, America

Well I'm glad you're happy with your system and I wish you all the best HOWEVER that won't change the US there are so many firearms it would take an insane amount of co operation to get them ALL back, I definitely won't comply and most won't. For me having a couple of handguns and shotguns as well as rifle gives me security that when an intruder comes I won't have to call the police which has proved time and again to be ineffective. Like we say here "I'd rather answer to 12 than be carried by 6"

its just sad you can even get pepper spray in Australia people seem to think its going to be used for bad ? rather then some helpless laddie fighting off an a attacker.so whats next banning knifes then ? gun laws in Australia are bad i can even get a semi 2 shot shotgun for target clay shooting thats just sad. ok i under stand some people might go crazy but if everyone was trained and was armed they would STOP the ATTACKER rather then being UNARMED and HELPLESS.

@PrepSurvivor i'm just saying if freedom means 80 people a day dieing and another 200 injured, recently released criminals allowed to buy a gun no questions asked in some states, and the fact that you gun but a AK47 and Armour piercing rounds for "home protection" has obviously not been thought out,you could kill the old lady living across the street with a stray bullet, and people say they have 10 guns for home protection do those people have 10 arms or are they able to use the force?

Which countries are you comparing the US to? 6:50 VT was sad, but nobody had a gun to stop that lunatic so many died. This would not have happened in Texas.
