Great information. I'm designing a bathroom for class now. This was exactly what I was looking for to determine whether to use a vessel sink in my design.
we're doing a half bath remodel and was considering a vessel sink. thanks for the info!

Julia - you state that the counter height was designed specifically for a vessel sink. How tall is the counter in the video? Also, what are the dimensions of the sink & faucet featured? We're in the midst of remodeling our master bath and are facing this exact quandary - best height / size all around. Thanks.

@ smjaegerr I'm looking to renovate a small, full bathroom. I love the look of converting a piece of antique-looking furniture into a vanity. I would like to add a vessel sink on top. Is 36" to tall (this includes the height of the vessel sink)? Also, one thing I've always wondered about these sinks, is splashing an issue?
@EasyKnightStudio13 жыл бұрын
@jillhbaudhaan I cant say about splashing but the average countertop stands at 36" so if thats the top of your vessel sink you have a pretty low counter

Well it's 12 years later and these sinks are still pretty popular so the concern of it being a fad may be even less legitimate at this point.

What is the distance from the floor to the top of your countertop?

okay but does it help you SPLASH LESS when you wash your face? i legit just want a huge vessel sink so I don't have to wipe my entire counter every time I wash my face.
@GeniusO97 жыл бұрын
No, it does not help you splash less. In fact, you will splash more due to the reduced distance the water travels when it hits your hands and raised sink.

im putting one in my walk in closet, cause i want my own bathroom, but we dont have room, so know i can wash my face and brush my teeth in my room! lol

To me, most important is the counter top height. I ordered a vessel sink on line. We set it up on the kitchen counter to see how it would go together. It's WAY too tall to use in the bathroom. Our old bathroom has a vanity 31" high. Standard is now 34-36; add 5 inches for the sink on top and you are way up there. So far, I have not been able to find the company on line that I bought it from to send it back, nor can I find a packing slip.

No, the standard height is 31. I am remodeling and my cabinet shop told me that.

Julia, it's now 2021, do you think it's outdated? I feel that it is but I would like to know your opinion
@mickfunny41853 жыл бұрын
@Mr Robot outdated in what sense, it’s out if “style” or something else🤔🤔

We are buying a new home and considering these sinks for our bathrooms since they dont seem to splash or leave a watery mess on the counter.

How is a pedestal sink viewed more negatively than a basin sink. If you put one of those cabinets under the pedestal sink it's like a basin sink. That you can put any cabinet under.

Three major disadvantages. A vessel faucet lessens the flow of water. Water cannot come out with enough force to wash a razor out while shaving. I have to do that in my bathtub. Because vessel faucets restrict the flow of water, they tend to become clogged. The small openings the water has to go through to restrict the flow can get clogged with sediment. Also, because the faucet is high, water splashes all over the place. Because of that, best to have tile on the wall in back of your sink. I bought a condo with a vessel sink in it and I really regret it. I would never get a vessel sink ever again. They are a headache. When I moved in, I had no hot water for two months in my bathroom sink. It was difficult to figure out why. It was because the vessel faucet got clogged. I have to clean up splashed water all the time. And having to clean my razor out in the bathtub every day is getting really tired.

@Paul Romejko Paul it’s now over a year since you posted, have you changed out the vessel sink or do you still have it🤔🤔
@PMR5173 жыл бұрын
@@mickfunny4185 Unfortunately I still have it. I had bigger fish to fry. I replaced 11 ancient, very leaky windows and depleted my home improvement budget for the past year. Hopefully next year.

Pros [for people who have stomach aches as often as I do]> 1: it's easier to vomit in 2: it's less messy & won't slash everywhere 3: it's cleaner/more sanitary than the toilet (for unexpected sudden stomach aches. Wash sink extremely well after, of course) 4: you can turn the faucet on, drink water, swish/spit out, drown out the noise & rinse/clean off after 5: you can rest your arms/hands around it & even hold it (grabbing it hard helps for some reason for me, don't know why) Cons: 1: vessel sinks are ugly 2: you can't put it on the floor [so make sure you have something soft to land on if you're too weak to stand up after]
@bevh4408 Жыл бұрын
Haha! Came here to get info about vessel sinks, and going for it! Laughed at your comment about vomiting, hoping you’d consider trying to make it to the toilet instead of the sink to vomit in. Much cleaner, safer for everyone to vomit in a toilet rather than a sink, where a potential clog would be disgusting to clean. 😂

Style isn't an 'advantage' too subjective. Vessel sink= going back in time, the only way they can start to make any sense is with a wall mount faucet
@terrijuanette4867 жыл бұрын
This isn't necessarily for you because your comment is 5 years old but I have to respectfully disagree with you: Style is an advantage just as much as an out of date style is a disadvantage. And while it may be subjective, that's just the way it is with advantages and disadvantages. Any advantage or disadvantage is in the mind of the person making the list because what is a disadvantage to you might be an advantage to me and visa-versa. When remodeling your bathroom and you're looking for 'style', a traditional plain under mount sink is not going to have the 'style' or 'wow' factor that an above mount sink will have.

I hate those god damn sinks.
@gingermaziarz74867 жыл бұрын
So do you own one, or is it just the pretentiousness of them that you hate. I have seen some cool natural stone ones and considered them for my new home but don't want it to be high maintenance or a fad that will be gone in two years. Is there a lot of water splashing with them? Have you lived with one?

My house has 4 of these. 2 leak at the base, all 4 are a pain in the ass to clean around, reaching around to grab stuff is annoying. I hate them lol
