This was a very informative video. Well done. I'm very much in love with this breed and always up to watching random cat videos. So happened my curiosity peaked about how one handles and starts a cattery. I have respect for breeders take their cattery and health of their cats seroously. I wish you the best of luck. I enjoyed watching your video, thanks 😻 A year and a half ago I fell in love at first sight with a Maine Coon kitten and bought her spontanously. I know you should NOT do this but I Never regretted it. My children are grown up and no longer with me and I lived alone with two dogs. She is the most beautiful cat, both in personality and looks. I could not imagine not having her in my life. And she gets along with the Chihuahuamix and is in love with the Shepard. I would love to let her have kitten one day but because I would not be able to give her babies away and don’t want to become the strange cat lady I‘m afraid I can’t do it.

Why do you eventualy rehome you're queens and studs? Why not just keep them near?

I believe it's because expenses and time needed that is challenge. When becoming a reputable breeder, as one person, she only has so much time with her Maine Coons to give. A majority of her time will be looking after the new Queen and the Lord(s)/King(s). It's very important to keep an eye on them to make sure they are healthy, fed well, and not to mention getting the attention they need. Most reputable breeders do not make much money due to the expense it takes for their Maine Coons healthy foods, vitamins, etc.etc. as well. Not to mention not knowing how many kittens will be born- considering there are still-births, deaths, etc. So I am guessing the focus, attention, and money from one person makes it challenging for a Breeder to give over all. It is a commitment and 24/7 job. Example (and this is just me being a non-breeder): My one Main Coon kitten cost me between $300-350 a month, and this is just insurance, food, and basically necessities (litter, etc). But I am also very serious on what I feed him and done hours and months researching/contacting my breeder and other breeders with many questions before final adoption.. But I tell you, owning and researching/feeling like you know what you got into is something else. I knew the road would be expensive with the life style I want to give my Maine Coon personally, but I can't imagine the expenses of being a breeder. Not to mention with your own Kings/Lords. Oh, and the space. Can't make it too crowded, right?
