Pros and Cons of Living in Fort Wayne, Indiana North or South?

North Fort Wayne and South Fort Wayne are similar but they do have differences that may fit your lifestyle better. South Fort Wayne, near Sweet Water Sound, is closer to amenities while North Fort Wayne, closer to Parkview Regional Medical Center, has more opportunities for finding land and homes on bigger lots.

Their's 3 Target stores.. Are you sure you know enough about the area to do a review? Their's a HUGE difference between the southwest & southeast part of town. The price is cheaper on the southside, especially southeast for a reason.

@@steves259 💯 I’ve always struggled on what is considered “North” During my research, North of Coliseum, used to be considered north. I consider North of DuPont “North” To your point, there is almost nothing north of DuPont. I think that’s important if people are moving near PRMC. They’ll be north of DuPont most likely. Although, Union Chapel has seen a lot of commercial growth in the past 18 months

Southwest side of town - Northwest side of town - $300-$400,000+ buys a nice home that can raise 2 kids. The pricepoint basically stays the same for a retired couple that wants to enjoy a wonderful home and not worry about the normal statistical crime in the Southeast area of Fort Wayne, which for years has been "rough" since the 1980's.

Up north. You can find a nice home for 250-300k depending on size. Turnberry in Huntertown you could get a 3/2 2300 sqft for 275k, Rapids of Keifer Creek about the same. Just south of DuPont, same house will go for $240k. DuPont road is the dividing line that forces more appreciation. Same principle for most of Aboite…

$300,000 to $400,000 will most likely buy you a lot more in Fort Wayne, Indiana than it would in the Chicago area suburbs where I live. The homes would be older. About 25-30 years old. Not to mention less house and more taxes in Illinois. With the people moving to Fort Wayne, how long will those prices stay low?

You will absolutely find newer/bigger houses in Fort Wayne between $300k-$400k. New construction here starts at around $270k Partly because our median household income, according to www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/chicagocityillinois,fortwaynecityindiana,highlandparkcityillinois,glencoevillageillinois/SEX255221 Fort Wayne's median is $53,978 and Chicago's is $65, 781. There are fewer folks here that can afford homes above $300k. 2nd. there are over 12k people per square mile in Chicago. Only 2,300 here in Fort Wayne. That's more comparable to areas like Glencoe and Highland Park. Home prices will remain at the current range for the foreseeable future because our population increase was only 0.8 percent. 3%, or more, population increase is usually considered rapid. There’s actually 3 targets and there’s plenty to do on the north side of town. Also I feel like this is just southwest side Fort Wayne vs north Fort Wayne. If we talk about the real south Fort Wayne than northern Fort Wayne is better. Also let’s be honest it’s more money in northern Fort Wayne because it’s better.

That area is good. Mature neighborhoods, older homes, and walkable. There are some spots. It's kind of hard to explain. One or two streets have been neglected a bit.

Price for homes in Fort Wayne are set. Very unlikely that prices will go down. Especially in Southwest Allen County or Northwest Allen County.
