I live in lenton, I'm a mother of three and been here 6 years. Not once have we had things like robbery going off in the area! 😂 And as much as students like to try and 'claim it' there are MANY nurserys, primary schools and secondary schools in the area! We are a mixed community. And we hate loud roidy students with the weekend parties because considering there is many schools, they're extremely inconsiderate. I'm lucky and live on a very quiet street. Not the same for others though. Yes Nottingham is great for the uni, but many "student" areas are also family areas! We have to find a mutual respect. But good video. I was born and raised here btw. Moved to Watford in 2014 for 2 years and came back. No regrets.

The students and staff were absolutely amazing and the campus was spacious although personally the city let's it down for me as it's more like a big town in my opinion. This could be good for some people but I found looking around it a bit boring. However the uni is great and city seems very LGBT accepting, transport it good and it's not too far from home so I might apply to the uni still.

Nice city, and, as I'm a Londoner/cockney who's moved here, sure, it has an amount of idiots, criminals and slums, but so does my old place of London. There are great parks, including Wollaton House and its Deer Park, Trent University Park, The Arboretum. Plus, the local coloured stone of a pink and brown hue, is outstanding, particularly in Nottingham's Victorian buildings which aren't out of place anywhere in the world. Also near to The Peak District National Park. As opposed to what idiots there are, there are a lot of nice, friendly people there, too. Great shopping in Broadmarsh and The Victoria Centre which surprised me, for a much smaller city than some!

Good video, but also a bit student centric. I would say Nottingham is not a small city. It is at least medium and it is actually one of the largest cities in the UK and there are plenty of job opportunities and there is a growing start-up scene as well. Not to mention you have nearby Mansfield, Derby and Leicester. Also Birmingham is like 40-50 min away. I did live and study in Nottingham, currently in London, but considering moving back. In London 60 min commute 1 way is like the norm, but often can be 1hr 20min 1hr 30 min under the ground just to get to work and this on top of your 8-12 hours working day (in corporate in top companies) How did you find the weather, especially compared to some other towns/cities?
@SoloAnn3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Considering that I also lived in Rome for many years, Nottingham is a small city for me. But compared to other cities in the UK, then yes, it’s not too small like you said. The weather is lovely, at least for me. I prefer cold and rainy days and Nottingham offers those weather conditions. We do have sunny and warms days too. It’s a little bit of a mix. And I think the weather is a bit the same in London.

@@SoloAnn You are actually incorrect in some respect. Nottingham is actually much bigger than Leicester overall. The city boundary population of Nottingham (approx 329,000) is slightly smaller than Leicester but the Nottingham Urban Area (population 768,000) is bigger than Leicester Urban Area (550,000). Nottingham Urban Area is the 7th biggest in England. Most of the things you said about Nottingham are correct but I am not sure how much travelling you did around Nottingham. Hope that helps. Good shopping in city centre and lots of little town surrounding, each with their own character and things they offer. Arnold, Bulwell, Beeston, Mapperley Top, Carlton etc Good tram links and public transport links into city, regular bus routes etc As for which area to live, depends what type of accommodation and what budget etc it does vary quite a lot. Things I like most about Nottingham, city life just 15 mins away, countryside 5 mins from my door, nightlife, restaurants, shopping, friendly people most are anyway. There are some dodgy areas, easy to research and a quick visit often confirms! Generally the bad areas are isolated.

Nottingham doesn't have a large Indian community like neighbouring Leicester or Birmingham but it does have a significant Pakistani population in Bobbersmill, Hyson Green, Radford, Forest Fields, Sneinton

I might be able to help as I am from Nottingham: Nottingham has plenty of safe areas but it depends where you want to get close to. Area close to City Hospital: Sherwood, Arnold, Basford (avoid Bestwood, Top Valley) Area close to Nottingham University and QMC Hospital: Dunkirk, Beeston, Lenton, (these 3 are student areas although Beeston is a good place) - Wollaton and Bramcote are nice areas close to the University. You can catch buses and trams but it depends where you are located because the city is relatively big and traffic can be bad especially during peak hours. City Hospital and Nottingham University are a good 4 to 5 miles apart along the main Ring Road. I can give you good areas of Nottingham: Nottingham West: Bramcote, Wollaton, Toton, Stapleford, Beeston, Park Estate (very close to city centre and easily accessible to Nottingham University) Nottingham South: West Bridgford, Edwalton, Gamston Nottingham North: Arnold, Rise Park, Hucknall, Redhill, Sherwood Nottingham East: Mapperley Park, Woodthorpe, Gedling, Burton Joyce, Carlton - this side of Nottingham is extremely hilly with very steep roads everywhere and not good if there is snow (I can testify to this because I live on this side)

@@flaviatauro8491 I am from Nottingham so if you are going to work in City Hospital, then the most favourable area is Sherwood which is a pretty decent area. For cheaper houses, then I will say Basford. Bestwood is very close by right behind the hospital but the area isn't good so avoid it if you can. Look around Valley Road (Ring Road), Haydn Road, Nottingham Road, Hucknall Road areas (not the Bestwood part) for houses which are close to City Hospital. Hope that helps
