Redlands was a great place to grow up. I graduated in 1971 and went into military and then relocated to Northern California. Been back a few times. Too crowded and the orange groves are gone.

Hi Robert, thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video on the Pros and Cons in Redlands and leaving a comment. Sounds like you have great memories of growing up in Redlands, it’s always fun to hear from those who have a long history with the community. I agree, many of the Redlands orange groves have been turned in to houses, businesses, and warehouses over the years. Redlands is still a wonderful place with a rich history and a bright future. I’m looking forward to the new downtown Redlands someday.

@@johannesboreen yep. But it was a lot more fun to be in my twenties in the seventies than being in my seventies in the twenties

The thing I'm starting to dislike about Redlands is that it's starting to get packed. They just built apartments on Lugonia st and they are adding more along with Warehouse buildings. It's killing the charm that Redlands is known for

I lived in Rialto, about 10 miles away, and I used to go to a music store there on State Street. It had a fantastic selection of sheet music. I picked up a lot of rare music from the Renaissance and Early Baroque. My daughter attended University of Redlands. Pretty, charming campus, but overpriced. Redlands is a charming, clean, safe town, but it is too, too hot in the summer. Interesting that Mr. Jackson mentions Redlands' proximity to Palm Springs and Los Angeles, but fails to mention its next door neighbor San Bernardino, the County Seat and perhaps one of the worst places in Southern California to live. Redlands is not 45 minutes away from the beaches, but try 90 minutes to 2 hours, depending on which beach and traffic. All that being said, if I HAD to choose a place to live in San Bernardino County, given my affinity to small, classic towns, I would choose Redlands. I like that Redlands is self contained: it's own school district, hospital, private university, good employment opportunities, and nice shopping areas. If you are a young, up and coming professional who likes to hit night spots, clubs and entertainment, Redlands is not for you. When I was in high school, we used to call it "Deadlands."
