I've watched 5 or 6 young women speaking about their pixie cuts/pros and cons, and it almost makes me cry to see the insecurity and sadness in their eyes, even while telling us they "love it." I'm far older than most of you and I'm here to tell you that you're gorgeous, there's an empowerment to cutting and owning your hair and not being driven by the patriarchal standard of long flowing locks. (NONE of you look less feminine, you do NOT look like a boy, nor do you look like a lesbian, you look like beautiful, take charge young women!)

Janet Snakehole I have a pompadour type pixie and I get bullied by total strangers and I've gotten to where now, I look them in the eyes and tell them that they shouldn't make fun of me for doing what they were too scared to do and that usually shuts them up.

One tip I have is to only get a pixie cut from someone you trust. I got one from this random place and I absolutely hated it. They just didn't do it right. BUT then I got one from my normal hairstylist and F***ING LOVE IT!!!

Getting one this Thursday. So ready and excited. I've never been confident, and I even struggle with social anxieties. But, as odd as it seems, I feel as though cutting my hair and doing what I really want will help me to feel more like myself; more confident and happy. I always cover myself in sweaters and hats (and I wear my backpack because it feels safe) I'm ready to be comfortable in my own skin :) Forget the people who'll make fun of me and say I look like a dude. I have been deciding on getting a pixie cut. I found my hairstyle, and FINALLY found a hairdresser to cut my hair. Now. I need to call and make an appointment! I'm so excited! My hair is probably a foot long, and i cannot wait to have it short. I'm looking forward to the FOLLOWING: - Bed head hair that looks natural - Hair that I can roll the windows down in the car and not have to worry about my hair tangling - Going swimming in my pool and the ocean a lot and not having to deal with it taking forever to dry and brush - FEELING MORE CONFIDENT - Finding a new style - Being able to change it up after 9 years of growing it out (my hair takes forever to grow out and is so dead and not heathy) - Running around, and not having to flick it out of my face (also my hair tangles so quickly even though it's straight...it's badly frizzy) - More beanies! - Being able to whip my hair around, again, without it tangling - Drying quicker - Not as heavy (even though my hair is kind of thin my hair gets poofy when I wake up, and yes I've checked with the hairdresser to check that my hair is the right type) - Not having to curl it or straighten it because ITS SUCH A PAIN! - Finding if my hair will get curly when I cut it because I've heard that my hair will get curly if I cut it shorter (I halfway believe this) - Dying if different colors without my hair dying quickly - Coloring it purple for school pride when home coming comes around! I cannot wait for short hair I'm so excited and not really that nervous!

Yes. I like pixie cuts on women. Yours looks great, but some women don't always look good with them. It's clean cut, out of the way kissing them and it shows off the back of the neck and ears having it cut really super short. I prefer short hair over long on women.

Lucky! When i straighten my hair it takes 3 hours. Ugh i want to get a pixue cut but my situation is tough. My dad let me cut my hair when i was 8 and my ssiter took me and cut it shorter than i was supoosed to have it. He never forgot that. He loves my long hair, but i hate it. But he overpowers me more and im afraid of him. Im very afraid he will sya no, i brought up the idea before and he said because my hair is curly and thick it will not look good at all. I told my sister and she was for it but said my was WAS thick and it would look a bit thick. I dont mind that :) But my dad. I told him i would cut it at 18 since no one would be there to scold me and he said he would scold me even when hes 80 and if hes lucky when im 90. He said it laughing a bit so i was not sure if he was serious or not. I am very tired of my haur i cry whenever i struggle to brush it and struggle to make it look nice and my parents call me lazy for it. I would love to cut my hair but i need to convince my dad. I really want to get a longer pixie, but I'm not very fit and I'm scared it won't suit me. My mom doesn't like the idea of cutting hair short, she thinks that bob (which I currently have) suits me the best. I'm not very confident person and kinda scared of others opinions, but in the other side I would like to try it. What should I do?
