It is like Florida in that we have beaches like Galveston, Port Bolivar, down to Port Aransas and Corpus Christi. It's much more sprawling than there however. So transportation and heat are another major difference. We don't have gators too much though we do have a quite a few. The main difference is safety.

You are right Houston have the biggest medical center in the world,but there are a few ports that are bigger for example LA has the biggest port as far as tonnage. Houston is around number 4 or 5, but great add.

I bought my house 27yrs ago 58k 15 minutes from downtown. I think when I last saw the house was almost at 200k. You can't find anything for that price. It would be a hole! The house is 3 bedroom 1 1/2 bathroom dining room kitchen dining area and a large den. We did not flood. Thank the LORD. Make sure when you buy house it is not level to the street. When I bought the house this man said stay here your house will go up in value you are straight shot to downtown. He thought light rail would come through here, that was 27 years ago, no light rail yet, hope not.

I'm strongly considering moving there from Cali but I'm afraid that the locals don't want Californians moving there. I've seen a lot of comments like "don't come here"...But I'm a Christian and right-leaning moderate and really appreciate that it's a red state, and really feel like I'll relate more to people in Texas than I do in California..definitely not trying to vote blue in TX and turn it into another CA like people are saying. I'm an artist and read that there's a healthy art scene there and a lot of high income individuals which gives me hope for finding art collectors that I genuinely connect with and making some real friends. I'm just so sick of the CA politics, high rent, plastic/fake people etc. I'm pretty much leaving it up to God and if it's meant to be it will be.
@livinginhouston6775 Жыл бұрын
Sorry Fiona that I’m just now seeing your post ,but I have not heard of many people complaining about Californians relocating to Texas. As far as the Art scene go, I have seen growth within in the Houston area.
@omarp.3929 Жыл бұрын
Just ignore them because Houston is a melting pot of various cultures, at least around 257 people move here everyday. Just make sure to have a car, a job lined up, and extra money just incase things happen.
@Andrembramwell Жыл бұрын
"I'm just so sick of the CA politics, high rent, plastic/fake people etc." tbh its not better in texas lol im trying to move to CA because i would get paid double there and the rent is the EXACT same. I pay $2100 downtown houston and rent in Santa Monica is $2000 a month but employers here do not want to pay you the big bucks. House near downtown? You need 1.2 million house in the hollywood hills is 1.5 and appreciates faster. Sure you could go all the way out to katy but its far and it sucks out there unless you want to hang out at walmart and bars every weekend.

I agree. Harvey hit near corpus but we rained for 4 days. I was stuck in water for 3 days until I could leave luckily my car was in a parking garage but I was level 1 in Meyer land apartments. So much flooded despite not having a direct hit. What party? Bruh clearly did nothing to help anyone else either during recovery. I lost everything and still went out to help people. These are the kind of people that move to Texas and don’t have any southern compassion or thought for anyone else 🤦🏿♂️

I believe you did not listen to the video clearly! I stated some people have Hurricane parties. Also I lived in the Houston are my whole life and grew up off the coast,so I have help people with gutting homes, relocating, and providing food. I think your comment is more specific to your situation not the greater Houston area.
@cjthompson420 Жыл бұрын
@@livinginhouston6775 No it isn’t. Most of the city flooded that had never flooded prior nor was it in a flood zone. FEMA had to redraw the maps after Harvey. You know little about anything Houston related.
@livinginhouston6775 Жыл бұрын
I think your response to my comment does make any since. Certain area of Houston has always had issues with flooding I.E Meyerland. Due to Houston area growth and lack of infrastructure regarding drainage some areas where hit hard then others. Harvey was definitely a huge impact on the Houston area and I’m not trying to make lite of the devastation.
