I was born and raised in southern Indiana. I lived there for 36 years. The job I had topped put at $14 an hour, and the cost of living is basically the same. The drugs and crime were bad. I lost a few people to being murdered, some in brutal ways. Here, I can actually have stuff on my front porch and it still be there the next day. Crime is mild. Drugs are everywhere, and it has it's noticeable areas to avoid. It is a small quite area. In Indiana, I knew many victims of big to small crimes, here, I have only known about some small crime. Someone broke into my neighbors car. Here in Waynesboro you have to pay property tax on all vehicles, as well as your house. You need 2 plates per vehicle. You need yearly state inspection. So there are a lot more government taxes and fees. The upside it, Stuarts Draft has many jobs starting at $20+ an hour. Almost double the pay of an average job from the state I came from. I went from a camper in my dads yard, to a house and two cars. I broke my neck before, and messed my back up in a car wreck, and my body can handle my job. So it isn't hard work, and it pays well. Moving here made my life so much better.

San Diego: 1 bed, 1 bath, 750 sq feet. Third floor apt. $1,600 per month. Waynesboro: 2 bed 1 bath 900sq single family home with a YARD. $900 per month. We arrive June 1! She commutes to Charlottesville. After three years in a tiny city apartment, I can't WAIT to buy a weed eater, garden, and maybe get a couple chickens. Don't have kids, or need an airport. A little community theatre, some flea markets, the occasional pancake breakfast at the fire hall, or harvest festival. As you said, a CON for some people is a PRO for another. More trees and less people. I'm not anti-social, I'm OVER socialized. Looking for a slower pace. I have faith that there are places to hike, and drink in nature. We are hikers, campers, foragers, ex horse farmers. I want to pick my own fruit, buy eggs and raw milk, scour the farmer's markets and auctions. I think you have confirmed that my expectations are realistic. Not over 90 in the summer, no deep snow in the winter? SOLD Thank you for your videos!!! We have what is very possibly the last house in Waynesboro before the 64.

My mom lives in Stuarts Draft so I am up that way fairly often. I and my family are looking at moving up into the area (we're also looking at Highland county). Two things people should take a look at and consider; 1.Internet connection - you need to know ahead of time what you need, Augusta is very spotty for good highspeed connections especially if you are going to work remot. 2.Schools - if you are a younf family with school age children take a VERY close look at the public schools.

Hate to have a little bit of a bitter going back-and-forth Carrie thing and your husband really kind of cut you off quite a bit, which is very typical down there in Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina man really think that they have a stronger voice and more to say, and I think that women should say less. I see this in so many videos so many of them like there’s another one in Virginia cooking with Brenda watch him that guy his name is David and he just puts her in her place all the time that’s her cooking show and it’s like men down there in the south that’s one thing I don’t miss about it down there and you guys treat your women horribly.

Well, I think it’s a con here and I mean pro and con is that you’re not giving us distances like how many miles and how long does it take you being? Very vague like you don’t want us to look into any place else other than here and I don’t know why you’re being like that you really need to, but I would consider Phyllis and we’re not from there. If you think that you’re trying to hold something from us, we’re gonna go and research it ourselves and leave you behind, and not even recommend people to you do you know information voluntary information is an asset to you people might not consider moving to where you are because you’re not giving us any information about the place you like very iffy, not wanting to say a whole lot.

Way to start off on all the cons. ;-) In larger cities it can take you 30 minutes to get to a Best Buy thats 5 miles away. I dont see anything under 40 minutes drive as an inconvenience. Theres essentially everything you need daily shopping wise within the city. You mention "wineries/breweries" but then dont mention any breweries! Basic City is great and is opening a huge concert venue in the next month.
