Very accurate summary of pros & cons of living in Zimbabwe. Born there in 65 but left in 98. I have been fortunate since to travel around the world, from the Amazon to to Las Vegas and I can hand on heart say that the weather and laid back way of life in Zim is second to none. Politics sucks there, but Zimbabweans are the friendliest people on Earth. I miss my place of birth terribly, but I treasure my memories and now just make new ones as I travel. Thanks for sharing this, I really enjoyed your vid.

The clownish people (originally economic migrants, colonisers, worse than the ones who are being kicked out of South Africa because your ancestors were thieves and murderers) who call themselves citizens and then go about slating Zimbabwe every chance they get. Even trying to destroy other people's enjoyment and appreciation of Zimbabwe. If you want to blame anyone for economic collapse in Zimbabwe blame your credit flow restricting, sanctions imposing brethren in europe and North America, and the opposition who decry economic collapse whilst secretly lobbying twice a year in the US for sanctions to continue. And yes your thieving ancestors did need an invitation, which they never got. That is why you are colonisers not true Zimbzbweans.

Good reflection on Zimbabwe, but I would like to address few things as an African non Zimbabwean who went to Africa University in Mutare for almost 6 years (1999-2005). Of all the cons you have mentioned, I can recognize 1 or 2 things: -The cost of wifi. During our time it was the SIM card that was way expensive!! Apart from that I can also mention politics.(I can still understand that even here in the USA we have the same problem with RED &BLUE!!) The rest of the things you have mentioned such as corruption, official paper work processing, expensive goods, unreliable electricity, potholes and currency, are new to me. I have been hearing all that a lot and it's heartbreaking. But all these things came in when Robert Mugabe, the then president of the Republic started claiming land from white farmers. Now, the USA imposed economic sanctions on the country for years simply because Mugabe would not follow the so called "International Community" dictat. Zim dollar was a powerful local currency, but the USA made sure everything should collapse in Zimbabwe. The problem most African countries face, is the western world dict (Their way or highway). Now that you know, are you able to, one day, make a video denouncing (may be giving the pros and cons) of the western world countries' foreign policy on what you call "3rd world" countries? In my 6 years in Zimbabwe, Electricity went off once and for 5 minutes; official documents were done in a timely manner; we had lots of small scale businesses; beautiful roads; strong currency.... It's sad to hear all these things our fellow Zimbabweans are going through and pushed to relocated in South Africa where many are being killed and mistreated. Sorry for this long literature!!!!

Love this! We have been here for three weeks and I told my husband yesterday I am blown away by how nice and helpful people here are. Coming from Southern California, we just aren't used to that. We have already gone hiking at Mukuivisi several times since being here. Seeing Giraffes so close and uncaged was unreal! Once we get our car, it's adventure time!

In the UK it is exactly the same so far as government processes go, there is a standard fee and an expedited fee for things like passport applications, drivers licenses, immigration application processing, birth certificates etc etc.

Corruption is absolutely disgusting in a lot of African countries. I left Zimbabwe when I was 19 and I am now 38. Don’t know if I can ever come back to live coz I hate chaos and I also hate corruption but I still love my country Zimbabwe 🇿🇼! Also can’t afford the inconvenience of not being able to easily access products.👎🏾👎🏾 Don’t even get me started on the currency struggles 😬. For me the cons outweigh the pros something needs to be done ASAP!

If u can make your money in Zim and stay away from the politics, your life is good. But I do concede, there is the necessity for improvement in many aspects, esp roads, water, electricity, cleanliness, public lighting etc.

I conceded above that there afr still a great many things in need of being improved etc and I still do concede that the economy was sacrificed by bad politicians. It's not necessarily being in bed with the politicians but there are other genuine people making clean money and a good living without being in bed with the politicians but through hard work. For those who can make a decent living things are much better for them. There are other aspects if the country that are good, if not better than Europe etc. Its good to see both sides of the spectrum.

@@arotogtech … you make a fair post with positive vibes. I applaud that. But for many of us that left Zim for greener pastures (loving Florida) we are still angry that we had to leave. ZANU was handed a thriving economy (despite the sanctions against Ian Smith) and all Mugabe had to do was try keep things on an even path. But ZANU went out of their way to destroy the whole infrastructure and Manangagwa is no better. It’s simply unforgivable.

Its a beautiful country with good people. Yes it has some challenges in terms of their economy & infrastructure but you get used to it.

Just try and search for the top companies with vacancies related to your job profile and then come on a visit visa and appear for an interview

Healthcare is okay if you have $ and access to private sector but still not the equipment or standards of the US. Tons of educated and wonderful physicians just no infrastructure. Dental services I’ve found great!

Zimbabwe suffered from punitive sanctions by the west for ditching the exploitative colonial power and has yet to recover fully. The colonials just extracted as much wealth as they could and built very little infrastructure; made sure only a small segment of the population got educated in nation building. As for corruption, it is the result of societal systems take take root hierarchly-with those at higher levels gaining the most compensation in relation to those at lower levels, who then seek to augment their compensation by demanding that anyone they perceive are in a better economic standing, fill their compensation gaps. Corruption in Zimbabwe and Africa in general can only be stamped out when the citizens are properly educated and provided with compensation for their labor that allows them to live lives free of deprivation.

I just got back from zim and every black man there will disagree with that. Every person I talked to missed the old days. You’ll hardly find a Zimbabwean who doesn’t miss the colonial days. The colonials built ALL OF THE INFRASTRUCTURE! Where did you get any of this information??? Every single infrastructure was built by colonials.

Prince, I think it is time to let the UK thing go now. 42 years into Independence, there comes a time where blaming that distant past just has little credibility. Mugabe, Mnangagwa and ZANU killed the economy. Corruption rules because of the corrupt leaders. It is in Zimbabwean hands to fix that. It's a beautiful country, good, hard working people. You have all the ingredience needed to turn Zimbabwe into the envy of Africa.

​@@113001596 I agree with the perspective that it is the current Administration that killed Zimbabwe's economy. Its failure to curb bad governance, especially corruption, is its treated failure. This nation, surely, has everything. I however disagree with having to ignore the fundamental reasons why we are in this mess. The UK must always be reminded of its hand in Zimbabwe's downfall. Lancaster House Agreement was breached by the Labour Government. And Mugabe fought back. Sanctions, sanctions, and more sanctions cannot be ignored. I hope you know that it is all about the land question. The land question! To rebuild Zimbabwe, sanctions must be removed. Zidera and all must be disbanded. Good governance, on the other hand, must be prioritised by Harare. This land, our land will rise again.

@@Madhisco I'd be interested in hearing why you believe that land reform and the UK are fundamentally responsible for Zimbabwe's descent into economic difficulties. I get that land has been the biggest issue post independence. I am also convinced that the manner in which it was handled led to an exporter of foods becoming a predominant importer. My view is that the Zimbabwean economy is in such a bad state because of corruption, nepotism, incompetence, greed and shockingly poor governance. You say sanctions, but remember that the same country faced severe sanctions for over a decade and had a vibrant economy, which was handed to Mugabe. Yes, I get that this sanctioned "Rhodesian" economy predominantly exluded the black majority, which was utterly wrong. But I just don't buy the sanctions you refer to as an excuse. Those sanctions were targeted. Specific individuals, in particular ZANU PF indicviduals, were targeted. Not the entire economy. I know, I worked under that economy. We imported, exported - all over the world. The business was not affected at all by any sanctions. I'd really be interested in your opinion, in case I have missed something.
