I been on the Joy. I did like it. It’s the lowest rated NCL ship. You’re so right about the Wi -Fi. The whole fleet is the same. NCL try their best to nickel and dime. The food is very good. Eat the spaghetti at the buffet. It’s crowded on the newest NCL ships. They have small venue. The older ship have bigger venue.

I love NCL food vs carnivals food. Carnival is affordable and great casino offers. I get 0 offers from ncl even though i been on 4 NCLs. Ncl food is definitely more on par with carnivals paid restaurants. I barely eat on carnival for dinner 😅

Alot of hard work went into this video, yall got down to business & cut through the fluff. THANK YOU. Did you try the Vibe beach club? Again, extra charges, however it absolutely made our recent cruise in March so special. We were on the Escape, pretty similar to the Joy. Prima 2024 here we come.

Good video. We have sailed both and the food is far better in our experience on NCL. I like NCL itineraries better, coco cay is of course very nice but I don’t need to go there every cruise,. I also hate Royals surge pricing on extras, just give a fair price, I hate having to constantly check to see if the extras we wanted are on sale like the drink packages/internet etc.

Very happy to hear you enjoyed the food on NCL. We definitely love Celebrity as it’s a higher level of service in general and their food is excellent yet that being said NCL was our very first cruise back in 2017 and we loved it twice on Escape and once on Dawn. No cruise is perfect but we also really enjoyed NCL Broadway type shows, the comedy club and of course 24 hours availability of O’Sheeans(equivalent of what is changing to Local Bar & Grill😋) Don’t remember their Pizza but will definitely check it out on our next NCL cruise👍 We just sailed with Celebrity Summit to Bermuda and enjoyed the cruise a lot and are really excited to board NCL Getaway sailing to Mediterranean later this summer😎 Love your vlogs and appreciate your honesty as I know RCL is your fave and yet we have to give RCL more chances as we were not greatly impressed on the Navigator of The Seas this past NYE. We will be open to all cruise lines and enjoy the itineraries which is what we look for. We will be upgrading to premium wifi just for texting purposes as our package only includes 120 minutes which is not enough as we will be gone for also 10 days👍 Look forward to more vlogs and wishing you both happy sailings Hoffmans always🛳️💃🏻

I wouldn’t say there was an overwhelming party vibe but you could find that kind of atmosphere if you’re interested in it. The Social club was definitely the spot to go to at night if you’re looking for a party! Thanks for watching! 🤗❤️🚢

Looking at that French Onion soup and the Tortellini soup make me laugh, because, I sail with NCL a lot, and the broth they use for those soups is watered down broth, I found it gross, I agree, the Main Dining Room food isn't that good! YES,, to the gross pizza! LOL

I agree with everything you said! When my husband and I sail, we go with NCL. Free at sea is great for us and we don't do the paid activities. When we sail as a family, it's RC so the kids have included activities. The food on NCL has been amazing for us, minus the pizza, and I'm hearing a lot of negative reviews lately regarding RC food (cold, takes a long time, doesn't taste good.) RC wins layout of ship for me.

I’ve always declined the Free at Sea Bev Package because of the gratuity. But I took it when we sailed Alaska. And it was excellent. Never had to worry about what to drink or not to drink. I saw they changed some of the brands in each category have changed but still good. Took the bev package for my sailing on Epic in January. Never had an issue with internet access on the Encore. I was able to do all my regular work for my job from the observation lounge. I love The Local/O’Sheehan’s. Food Republic is my fav speciality restaurant on any cruise line. Never have had an issue on any NCL ship with seating. Don’t know what was up with Joy for the Hoffmans.

For me and my allergy the food was better on NCL. And the fact that the local is included is great as well. We never had a problem finding a seat in the buffet so not sure if we timed it right or what. Luv the go carts. But I think I need to cruise more on both lines in order to make a fair comparison 😅

Great review! I think you touched on some great points. And a lot I agree with, some things I think don’t really apply to our particular situation. For example, my husband and I really wouldn’t care about the up charge on go carts, VR games, or laser tag as we would probably never play them anyway, but I am sure there are many families that that would apply to. I agree that it seems you get more included on Royal as far as activities. For you guys, it seems like you didn’t get the free at see package and I think a lot of people do. So that also helps with the cost of specialty dining, drinks, Wi-Fi, (if you don’t need a lot of Wi-Fi, of course). For me, ultimately, it’s always going to come down to price an itinerary when comparing between Royal and NCL. But those are definitely my top two.

Agreed! If we were just going based on the boats, I think Royal wins hands down. We also really like the “all inclusive” feel of the free at sea even though it’s obviously not free or ALL inclusive. 😂

All I have to say is that I could write a book on NCL, it was so bad that we do at least 6 cruises a year, and NCL is not going to be one of them ever!
