Sorry, fell into your vlog by accident, but now curious to see if you have a video that reveals the reason you switched from USC to USF? Thanks 🤟
@claireemercier8 ай бұрын
hiiii!! I don't have a video explaining it - I totally should have made one though. long story short, USC was my dream school, but it was VERY expensive and honestly too academically challenging for me. I really loved my one semester in LA but it really didn't make sense for me to stay. if I would've stayed at USC I would've been in over $100K of debt after my 4 years 😭 so I ended up coming home to illinois, getting my associate degree from a local community college, and then chose to transfer to USF due to it's great location and relatively cheap tuition. it ended up being the PERFECT school for me and I can happily say that I graduated completely debt-free! thank you for watching - hopefully that helps answer your question :)

You mention the Greek life being a pro in both pro and con videos. Do you know if the hazing and pledging is bad in the frats?
@claireemercier Жыл бұрын
greek life was definitely a big pro for me! I never got too involved with the frats so I don't have any first-hand knowledge of any crazy hazing that goes on, but I don't think it is a huge thing in USF greek life. I truly don't know though. sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

I’ll admit I’m old, graduated in ‘69 but as a mass communication major I would hope you have a vocabulary bigger than “Sucks” eg food, Starbucks, Amos’s. Also, as a resident, I always had to walk across campus: rain, heat, tornadoes. I love your enthusiasm and happy to hear about the advancements but no need to whine a out the mail, parking or food. It’s a university and will always be difficult if it’s worth going to. Go BULLS!
@claireemercier Жыл бұрын
hi! the reason I "whined" about the things I didn't like is bc this is a pros and CONS video! 😆 also, using the word "sucks" does not mean I have a poor vocabulary...it is just how the people in my generation speak, and my videos are created to relate to them. thanks for watching!

how would you recommend to get into USF as an out of state student? I have around a 3.9 unweighted 4.1 weighted grade wise. Do you think I could get in with those grades?
@claireemercier24 күн бұрын
I’m not 100% positive, but I believe the application process for USF (at least when I applied as a transfer) only looked at GPA. With that being said, if your GPA and test scores are above average for USF's latest freshman class, I'd say you have a pretty good chance of getting in! Good luck!!

hey!! unfortunately I didn't receive any aid and had to pay the full out-of-state price :( the only financial assistance I received was a major-specific scholarship that I put towards my study abroad

@claireemercierАй бұрын
hey justin!! yeah, I think if you have a pet with you it would be best to get an apartment. there are a bunch of options near USF. I just recommend that you look into it as early as possible so you can get the place you want!! good luck!!

hi i am looking to study abroad at USF, what is it like for international students? also how is the nightlife, do you party on campus or in tampa? thanks!
@claireemercierАй бұрын
hey marcus, since I am not an international student myself I can't speak too much on what the experience is like, but I met a lot of people at USF from out of the country and they seemed to enjoy it. there are a lot of different cultural groups on campus to join which seemed to be popular with the international student body as well! I’m not a big going out kind of person so I might not be the best person to speak on this lol. but in my experience, there wasn't a lot of partying on campus. most people would go to bars/clubs kinda close to campus (like ivy) or go to soho in downtown tampa for happy hour/on the weekends. one thing I think USF does lack is a designated "college town" kind of area that is walkable from campus and has bars, restaurants, etc...there really aren't any walkable bars near campus hopefully this helps!!

@claireemercier24 күн бұрын
hi bridget!! at USF, there are two times during the year where you can enter a sorority. there's primary recruitment in the fall, and then some sororities (it varies each year depending on open spots) will participate in spring recruitment as well. the fall primary recruitment is your more typical "rush" experience, where there will be multiple rounds of speaking with the different chapters on campus until you narrow it down and receive a bid on bid day. if you go through recruitment in the spring, the process is a bit more laid-back and informal, and mostly involves going to open houses and scheduling time to meet with different chapters one-on-one. I would definitely keep up with the USF Panhellenic page on IG for more info on upcoming recruitments!! as far as having time for a sorority and ROTC. I can't say I know anyone personally who was in a sorority and ROTC at the same time, but I know plenty of girls who were able to balance greek life with busy work schedules, being involved in other clubs, etc. In my experience, I was pretty involved in my sorority during my first year, but stepped away a bit more during my senior year to focus more on career development, and that was totally fine. each sorority will have different requirements on service hours, chapter attendance, event attendance, etc, but ultimately, I was able to choose how involved I wanted to be!!
