Principles of animation(both good and bad examples) are used completely throughout this. PoA is like the most basic of basic tools, like knowing your alphabet or basic numbers.

if you haven't watched Alan Becker's series on principles of animation, it taught me everything about how to animate! But yeah I totally agree, Ross' videos have helped a lot!

@@extremenerd4989 oh yeah for sure, it's one thing to be taught what's "right" or even just the concepts of it all, it's another thing to be shown why the right way works and what it looks like when you do it wrong. I think that's the beauty of going through the process on your own, you start seeing the bad stuff and you end up learning some really important and helpful ways to make things work. That being said, you also learn a lot by watching others, you learn techniques you weren't thinking about and often times their mistakes can be learned from, of at least partially. 😊

18:45 I guess w/ animations like these - since they're professional artists and like to use motion/smear frames which lose their form, and can be difficult to interpret- it could be useful to include an outline of the original art in a very light colour (like a gray or blue, maybe using the custom colours to make sure it's light enuff) to act as a frame of reference for the next person since it won't stand out in the final animation. 27:02 They could also just leave a small drawing in their notes to make sure the important features/ themes make it thru, like Mellodillo did (they'd just hv to be careful to not make ppl think it was a part of the drawing lol).

These Gartic Phone animation mode session w/ Ross & his friends are awesome. I love their skill and creativity (plus they hv fun personalities and entertaining convos), but it feels like a lot of them forget to/ are afraid to make any changes to the art sometimes lol (like they don't wanna hv to decide what happens next) - some albums have a few frames which are practically identical until someone like Ross makes it move.
