As an amateur game designer, I just want you to know you ruined your paddle giveaway game. You will get a lot of likes and replies now because people are just going to like and reply to others so they limit the competition. I’d suggest in the future you either just pick a random comment, or like many other channels, pick only from people who include a word that you give near the end of the video. At any rate, thanks for the lob tips, I will try them out.
@JeffLandauerАй бұрын
@@nunyabidness3075I think the more likes and replies/comments a video gets, the more it gets recommended by the algorithm. So these rules were probably chosen on purpose. Only way to really win is to comment just a second before they pick a winner. Every other comment should have a like.
@nunyabidness3075Ай бұрын
@@JeffLandauer Oh, absolutely! But that’s not going to be effective very long in my opinion. Games get published that have similar issues all the time. The result is players soon quit the game, stop playing, and often then refuse to buy from the same company. It’s a strategy fi very poor long term success.

Such an easy and effective tip to drill with your partner holding their paddle up high and aim to get 2' over it! Thanks John.
@brianmagill9704Ай бұрын
Good video and explanations. I just finished playing a league match against a guy who is 6'2" and hit about 10 of these over his head to get the W. Afterwards he was loudly complaining about how it wasn't any fun to play with people who are hitting lobs. I think it is a good way to mix things up and if a player can't figure out how to counter it then that is on them. Obviously I'll dial them back against people with legit physical conditions.
@paulparis3568Ай бұрын
So happy you mentioned situational awareness. When my partners try to lob over 6’ 4” athletic opponents it drives me nuts!
@afterthesmash19 күн бұрын
I am that 6'4" athletic guy, and I wish those people would stop doing this. I often chase them down in the air for a volley, but if I'm late, I end up having to reach behind my head, to take the shot from behind my body. If I'm really late, I get to the ball high up but behind my head, but then my wrist locks up before I can turn my paddle face to strike the ball down, and I end up firing a horizontal laser back to the other side. The last time I went out, I drilled the woman across the net from me right in the boob. We were 25 feet apart and the ball slowed down a lot, but she still scowled. Okay, really dumb. I'm always going to get the ball, and the only open question is whether I get it on time, in which I case I drill into the floor, or if I get to it late, in which case I'm going to drill it somewhere, hard, with far less control. So from the other side, the odds are 80% suicide (I get there easily and on time) and 20% murderball (I get there a faction of a second late, take a blind swing behind my head, and hope for the best). But they keep trying it, all the same. In the men's game, with stronger opponents, where my wild swing wouldn't matter (they defend themselves a lot better), none of the men are dumb enough to try this shot. It's only the women who aren't really good at defending themselves that think maybe this is a good idea.

The offensive lob when both opponets are leaning forward during a dink rally is a true winner. If you watch both opponets upper torsos and they are positioned in the forward position(trunk and nose toward the net- even as they are striking a low dink); this is the perfect time for a lob.

Your friend is definitely wrong. The lob is a dangerous weapon. Unless you’re lobbing at the baseline. Maybe he’s telling you not to lob in lieu of a drop, because that is bad. But a lob as an offensive weapon to break up a dink rally is a powerful shot.

How do you lob a ball “right over” the net?
@RobertHopkinsArtАй бұрын
@@goldenchildtheater Standing back in the court (my court) at the serving line is about the same distance as from the kitchen line to the opponents back-serving line. So I am practicing hitting it about the same distance as when I lob it over their heads. It's kind of funny. I started lobing and practicing about two months ago and all the players know I can do this. I like watching them run backwards! They never know where I am going to hit it now!
@RobertHopkinsArtАй бұрын
It's funny how effective it is. I teach this trick to others when they want to learn to lob better. Lobbing really puts the fear back into people that will not move from the kitchen line. I try and lob it directly over their head since it is hard for them to turn, run, then look for the ball as its coming down. This has transformed my game! Plus, it takes the pressure off those people that want to play PB like they are playing tennis... Whack-A-Mole!

I choose 'who' to dink. Why? A shorter player who has poor footwork is 70% winner but not against a tall player who has good footwork, balance and a good volley smash, you have a lower percentage only 30% success. And ALWAYS LOB TO THEIR BACKHAND SIDE, even if a tall player can reach it, it will be a difficult attacking shot, success is now very high, 80%, because if player can switch hand, he can still return shot. Add a 'back spin / slice' to mix up lob so to making it a difficult shot to hit.
