When the bosses get angry: Goomba Tower: adds an extra goomba and drop spiky fruit Chain Chomp: sends lava plumes up when striking Mr. Blizzard: adds more snow obstacles and tosses faster King Bob-omb: adds an extra conveyor belt Dry Bowser: adds more buttons for you to remember Bowser: attacks more violently That is my explanation.
