I actually really like how you can only run on the water if you're holding something. When you defeat a Koopa, you'll most likely discard his shell, but if you do pick it up, you can run over dangerous waters, an optional secret that kinda reminds me of SMB3 itself.

Night time versions: SMB2 mushroom: Jumps when you jump Frog Suit: Can't quite figure the pattern, but it seems it sometimes jumps towards you, but mostly evades you. p balloon: Acts like deflated Balloon. Super Acorn: Rolls and jumps, when landing makes speedy roll. Go figure how it works.

Enemies act like your are invisible if you have the Goomba Mask. This should be changed so that nearby enemies "know" you are Mario if you hit one of them. For example, Boom Boom should only be "fooled" the first hit.

Seeing SMB2 styled Mario return really makes me wish Nintendo gave that game the NSMB treatment instead of only focusing on the other 2D Mario games. Say what you will about SMB2 being a Doki Doki Panic clone with a Mario make over, but that style of gameplay needs to return for the next 2D Mario game (3D World was a neat attempt but I'd still prefer a proper HD SMB2 game).
