I disagree. The animations are way too stretchy in the remake, and it often takes away the subtle element of the original that made the game's world and its characters more grounded. Uka Uka is one of the most egregious examples, as he's way too bouncy and animated compared to his still, imposing and diabolical ps1 counterpart.

In case you're wondering why some of them are "less aggressive", the explanation is Japanese censorship. They had to make two versions of the original game because of censorship, and to avoid this, they made these "less aggressive" animations (Crash turning into an angel instead of "dying", eyes removed from explosions, gets drowned way faster, etc.)

Did You Know: The animations of the Crash Bandicoot games on the PS1 had to be done using vertex morph animations, not rigged skeletal animation, due to the low computing power of the PS1. Vertex morph animations involve the animator manually programming the positions of vertexes (the edges & points of polygons that make up a 3D model) from one keyframe of animation to the next rather than adjusting the positions of 3D bones within a model (which automatically moves and changes the shape/size of the model's polygons via dynamic algorithm calculation), the 3D equivalent of manually moving/changing a physical model used in stop-motion animation. As you can imagine, this is a very labor intensive and time-consuming task, but enables the animator to make far more complex and detailed changes to the character model, enabling models that during the 32-bit era would be very rigid if animated with skeletal bones to instead be given very cartoony squash-and-stretch distortions and movements.
