Despite how nearly every game character starting out as pixels, they still look the same as they did in terms of how consistent they are, but just because it's a new generation doesn't mean people asked for something like this just to be unhappy with it. I miss the old days of Skylanders. Some of tye games were really good, but over time when they started to force them out constantly, less love was put into them. The first two were great games no doubt about it. Swap Force was a nice way for more interactions with the Skylanders themselves. Trap Team was also pretty good as well introducing both Light and Dark Elements and the Traps are honestly really cool. They almost look like candies. Superchargers was where I feel things really began to fall. The story wasn't too bad. One of the best stories in the whole franchise but did need some adjustments here and there, but there were quite a few problems showing how they began to put less effort into this game. 1.Voices didn't fit at all at times with the animations of someone talking like The Darkness for example. 2.Reusing tons of previous Skylanders and not enough unique Skylanders. 3.Gameplay was really lacking in some areas. There was a bit too much focus on the vehicles. Then came Imaginators. The game where they were the ones who were lacking the Imagination with this game. The story was really lacking, the visuals felt a bit off, the gameplay was way too simple, etc. The only thing that really made me laugh was when Jet-Vac discovered that Kaos ate his lunch. Also, whatever happened to the cool, giant floating head? I loved how that looked. Now we just get a floating baby head. If this game was how the series was gonna end, they did a bad job with that. Here's my personal idea that I had ever since Trap Team first came out. Anyone remember when Kaos went to Earth? Well, remember how he said that he was gonna go take over Skylands and then come back to Earth and destroy it? Yeah. Never happened. He only made connections to Earth two other times. One time was with Trap Team when the Traptanium Kaos tried to pull you into Skylands but only got a bunch of toys and such. The other time was when he had control over all of the portals from our world. Whens he ever gonna get back to trying to take over our world? Maybe for a big finishing game, there should be a thing to where Kaos finds a way back to Earth and invades the world trying to take it over while making sure to find any Portals and Skylander Toys he can to prevent any more flaws in his plans. You (And a player two if possible who you can customize to fit you like maybe if you're in a wheelchair or have a missing limb for example. It would make players feel much more connected to the Portal Master they create.) are the only ones left who have a Portal and Skylanders. However, instead of bringing them back to their world, how about bringing them to your world. The portal will grow in size and the figure would grow as well and summon the Skylander. With a Skylander companion, you can also take part in the fight too by being able to use the powers of the Skylanders too and can even be cool forms for your Portal Master that you can customize. For example, wanna be like Spyro? Well, now you can. You become a Magic Elemental Portal Master and also grow horns on your head, wings, scales, claws, and a tail. You have Spyro's Abilities. Each and every Skylander has their own unique abilities for the Portal Masters and over time, you can mix and match different looks for your Portal Master to help you look your best and also mix abilities with the Skylanders as well becoming a Multi-Elemental Portal Master. Sizes of Skylanders are also a bit more realistic too to make things feel more real like with Pokemon Let's Go or Sword and Shield with the more realistic sizes. I hope that something like this happened. It sould be an epic way to end the franchise.

For me, superchargers should have been the last game. It made sense narrative-wise and even the set pieces reflected it. I actually liked the vehicles and I feel like it struck a nice balance between the walking segments and the vehicle bits. The cutscenes were phenomenal and it has some of my favorite levels of all time(Spellpunk Library and the Titan place comes to mind). While they weren't a lot of unique Skylanders, the ones that were unique are pretty amazing. The series never really "started losing passion" IMO.

There's something missing that made me love the old games so much that isn't in the more recent games that I'm trying to figure out what it is.

@@thesnatcher3616 I think that's it. I do wish that if Skylanders was to make a new game, it should feel lime the older games and also find a way to really end the series with a bang. Not a dumb one. That's why I want Kaos to try to take iver Skylands and Earth and make the worlds feel connected which is what the whole premise was originally about. That's another thing. The first 4 games had Skylanders being blasted to Earth in some way. In the most recent games, they were just normally sent to Earth with no explanation.

The franchise isn't exactly dead. Every game of there's had made incredible numbers, excluding the new game. Once Imaginators releases, I'd expect sales to go back to normal to normal (or even higher). Many people are starting to return this year, as well :)
