Garnets can be black and elongated...it could be black tourmaline

You must already know by now. That crystal is staurolite 😁.
@hipbeeexplorer3 ай бұрын
I didn’t. Many people have said a salt crystal.
@northeastprospector3 ай бұрын
@@hipbeeexplorer definitely a staurolite that has been rolling around in the river 😀🐝

@@hipbeeexplorer if it was salt it wouldn’t make it long in the water 😂 give it a lick 👅

Have you guys ever heard of gold in Aroostook county Maine?
@hipbeeexplorer3 жыл бұрын
I've never panned up there but I have canoed the length of the St. Johns river. I bet there is gold in that.

Yeah, we never really did finish that. It's a good area there. Tom and I pulled a .5g each out of that spot one day. The next time we went back it's wasn't as good but there was still good gold. I want to check across the brook from this site.

Could be schrol, black tourmaline. That must be tough filming and planning. I can't wait to get back out!!!

I haven't been back to that spot since we went back for the video "The Great Prospector Showdown"....There is good gold there but it's a long walk. I had knee problems last year and couldn't walk out there. I'm hoping to get back there this year. Peace.

Thank you for showing real life panning. I keep trying to persevere after my initial disappointments. I appreciate you showing perfect spots to try, and that even the perfect spots don't always produce.

Have you confirmed if that was a piece of garnet? I was wondering if it was black tourmaline or smoky quartz? Have you been back to this spot? It sure looked nice other than having to climb over all of those blowdowns.
@hipbeeexplorer Жыл бұрын
Actually, we have never been back to this spot. I may someday but it's a walk.

Have you ever used a metal detector?

yes, Here in the northeast youwon't =ind nuggets on the surface. They =are deep on bedrock.

Is there any gold phone in the middle of the river
@hipbeeexplorer3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and the question. There may be gold in the areas where there is water. I've learned over the years that gold in the river channel that has water in it all season usually is very deep and I would have to dig through the water. Unless I see bedrock I'm not going to waste my time digging in the water. The gravel bars can hold large amounts of gold close to the surface so I find digging in those areas easier and more profitable.

Gold prospecting is very tough in Massachusetts, and indeed New England itself is not known to have much in the way of gold deposits. I commend your efforts, and wish you all the best of luck prospecting the area. Hope you find a great source of "color" . ~Bodie.
