I hope you all enjoy this lesson. Please Note: When I mention that African countries have lower rates of Prostate Cancer, I should have said specifically "Northern African" countries, as these are the countries that have lower rates of Prostate Cancer.

My cancer was spotted early, I was having regular PSA checks from 2014 up until 2019 when I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, I had my prostate removed in Dec 2021. I had a few issues after the procedure, and had to have a catheter for 10wks, as a result I am now Incontinent, but at least I can be confident I no longer have the Cancer in my body. I would recommend that if your male and have a few issues with your waterworks, ask your doctor for a PSA check, it’s basically a simple blood test, and it can indicate if there’s a possible problem!!

If I might add some nuance to this discussion: prostate cancer "is the the most common cancer in males" (at 2:20) *in Western nations* but is second to lung cancer in most of the world. The incidence of PC in Yemen and Bhutan is 3 per 100,000 men, but *100 per 100,000 men* in Norway and Sweden. That's a tremendous disparity. Although there is some genetic influence involved, it is generally recognized that lifestyle factors are likely the main problem. Now we need to determine what those lifestyle risks are.

Generally, at least here in Canada, we draw the line at a PSA of 4.50. In the U.S. you are flagged at 4.00. That's for men over 60. For younger men the line is drawn at 2.50.

No. Only men with enlarged prostates (BPH). In both men and women, hypertension (high blood pressure) can often cause nocturia (needing to pee at night).

Retired Army and then 20 years PICU Resp. Therapist. I can't remember which Oncologist it was, but what he said made perfect sense. Said EVERYONE has cancer in their body; the body constantly fights up to keep what is called a Homeostatic environment. something triggers it to go hog wild sometimes, be it environmental or genetics. I honestly believe the research into forever chemicals has a huge role in this. Your body cannot rid itself of these toxins.

@kathleenking47 Probably just one of the many contributing factors. My anatomy teacher called me "racist" and stopped the class to pull me outside for a lecture when I mentioned that black people's melanin makes them produce less D. So it's nice to hear someone else say it lol

IDK if this has any bearing but got turned on to Soursop Graviola which I buy @ Amazon. A Black guy told me about it @ the casino; he had his removed. It is an African herb. I take one pill morning and one @ night. PSA, for what that is worth dropped from 7.36 to 4.89. My Urologist will do another biopsy Jul 2025; hope I stay @ stage one where nothing is done. So I would think Africans regularly eat this???

That's because diet and other lifestyle factors are possibly the main culprits.
