Prostate MRI: How it can help - Dr. Silvia Chang

Dr. Silvia Chang is a Radiologist at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and The University of British Columbia (UBC) Hospital where she is the Section Head of Abdominal Imaging in the Department of Radiology. She is an Associate Professor, Vice Chair of Professionalism and Wellness, and the Abdominal Imaging Fellowship Co-Director in the Department of Radiology, UBC.

Thank you for that valuable talk. I think you may find my tale interesting. As a BC resident, I was unable to get a MRI guided biopsy in 2018 and 2020. Not only could I not get guided biopsy, I had to pay twice for private MRI due to unavailability in the public system. Even though I had MRI, biopsy Dr refused to even cognitively guide his biopsy both times. On my first MRI, I received a PIRAD score of 6 (not a typo). Finally, in 2023, I expect that PSMA PET would be a far better tool to diagnose recurrence following treatment.
