VDO= VDR - Freeway space We dont keep our teeth in contact always, a space is maintained instead and that's the freeway space. So when we bring teeth in occlusion that space is subtracted :)

Im having a doubt ,if increased VD noticed during denture delivery, can cusp reduction be a solution?does VD return to normal?or does it remain as a problem?.cud u plz clear it @dr teeth

Yeah, cusp reduction can be done it is called as Selective Grinding. But increased vertical dimension should be less than 1.5mm, then VD can be corrected by selective grinding.
