Mark this was one of the most beautiful interviews. The way you console her, the advice you give her. Will go a long way I promise you. I’ve been there and I wish I had someone like you telling me these things as a young girl. I love how you call her beautiful at the end and not to rely on it. I wish more young girls would watch this. Brought me to tears. Thank you for everything you do mark.

Thank you. Ivy just showed up unannounced at my studio two weeks ago and it seemed clear she needed someone to talk to. I usually try not to give advice in these talks (at least, not on camera), but in this case I think she was looking for help so I shared my thoughts with her. Ivy has so much potential, but sadly, she’s had no good role models or guidance in her life. Her life can go in two very different directions right now and I felt the need to stop my usual Joe Friday impersonation on this channel and give my advice. It may help her or others, hopefully. I’ll upload another video this weekend with a fourteen year old prostitute named Momo who is in a similar situation. These girls’ stories are sad and difficult to hear but if you listen you begin to understand how they happen. Edit: I’ve also just shot an update video with Chyna, the sixteen year old prostitute. This girl’s story get more interesting by the day, but she has asked me wait to upload her second video until she sorts out some personal matters. You’ll see that update shortly.

Exactly. She can easily fix this problem...solution is get herself from around the ppl she is with, try to gain employment or go to school, possibly get a stable place to stay if she doesn't have it already. She still has access to her baby so it's not the end for her. She just has to put forth the effort.

My daughter didnt have to do what she was doing. She had A FAMILY...BOTH PARENTS. I wish i could meet ivy. Hug her and tell ber how much i love her.Since my daughter has passed away.I try to mentor girls her age. U have no idea how my heart is crying. I “zone out” a lot and stare into space.. something that was said triggered a response that made me turn inwards to think. You can tell she’s thinking in her head. Processing. Trauma takes its toll on the way your brain processes. I don’t have a drug addiction- I have trauma and mental illnesses from it. Disassociating is a way your brain protects it help from the emotions. I got yelled at when I got upset so instead I go inward instead of showing external emotion bc my brain views that as unsafe to show emotion. Just a thought to consider

@Iam Notafan She is depressed you can see it, and not just about her daughter, she is depressed about her life. She isn't "choosing" anything. She's lost and hopeless. If you can't see she is depressed...your perspective is blind. She is twenty years old and lost. She is stuck in a hopeless state. She knows her daughter is in a better place. She's aware of that, but she herself has no hope for herself. How can she concentrate on her child when she herself is a lost child? Saying she's tired and sleeps all the time more than once shows she is close to giving up. I know what that means to be hopeless. She is a child with a child. "She" needs help. She needs someone strong to help her get out of the flux she's in but, there is no one. Not everyone is strong emotionally. Not everyone is like you. Saying she should take the time to better herself is not what she is capable of......She is lost. Appearing on this video was the best she could do to find help.....I hope she doesn't end her life.

Hi Mark, I'm a 25 yr old social worker from Australia and I think the work you did in this short interview was amazing. You gave your all to try and influence her within her own decision making, provide her with the means necessary to make an informed decision in her life and instigate the agent for change. It is not an easy task to challenge someone on their own beliefs and values but you handled it with practiced skill and we also need to recognise that takes courage because you never know what reaction you will get. I noticed the script changed in this video as you're not usually so involved and normally have minimal involvement to give the people you interview space to tell their story. We can all see your huge passion, jumping in and helping her after seeing that she was starting to give up and accept her situation. She needed to hear the advice you gave her. I have the utmost respect and admiration for your work and your campaign. Also the subtle approaches you take to influence change in the lives of your interviewees. Take care of yourself, Kerrie.

I had to make hard decisions to stop doing things my family did and start doing things my family didn’t do. What helped me most was reading the Bible, listening to sermons, and hearing what God was saying to me through those words. I pray that this is your turning point lovely Ivy. Mark is right. My parents are alcoholics. I am, but quit drinking around 5 months ago. I dont keep count. Tomorrow I'm quitting smoking cigarettes while I have 4 days off of work. A person can break the cycle with Jesus's help, but they've got to want it. I wanted to write a comment to you because you said you've been watching sermons. I dont go to church and I dont get excited by pastors or religion in general. However, the other day I found a preacher on youtube, who preaches with the Bible only and he got me fired up! His name is Pastor Gino Jennings and to me, he is one in a million. He's genuine and righteous. If you're interested, I think you may enjoy the way he teaches. He's definitely a man of God among false prophets and charlatans. He got me excited about my Bible. Anyways, God bless you, and take care!

This was very painful to watch. I wanted to just reach thru the screen and hug this young lady until all her pain was gone! 😭😭😭. Her silences was deafening. When i was on the streets, i remember. To be in a cycle of that life is so devestating. You are so hopeless. When family doesnt care. When u have to do things u never thought u would have to do just to get by...then use to cover up said feelings about said things...the cycle then continues. She is disconnecting and it is painful to see this beautiful, sweet wellspoken young lady like this. All i can say is this. If i can do it..she can too. I was a hardcore alcoholic(i have stage IV(4) cirrhosis and chronic pancreatitis)). It was hard, i put the drink down(3 days of the DT's in my tent puking and shaking) 5 months later my dog and i got our first apt. Its been 6 yrs now off streets. Becuz of the drinking i am terminally ill even tho no drinking. I pray to God someone will help this young lady. Mark is right tho, its gonna be tough but i know it can be done. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Mark, one of the things that I love most about you and your interviews is that you never judge. I loved how delicate you were with Ivy, you knew exactly what to say. You even got a little smile from that pretty face. This interview is very special. There are places (if she were willing to go) that support sex workers starting over and from what I understand other services such as behavioral healthcare are provided. She would have support there and some are in a group setting. (I am sure that you know of these places). Also, I wish that I could speak to Ivy. I know that the unknown and change can be scary, especially if it involves starting your life completely over. I am not here to preach, but to support, as I have been starting over and I am 53-years-old. I am doing it and so can she. I left my 29-year-old abusive marriage with little money or belongings. I worked for the first 5-years. In 2018 I was given a grant to go to college full-time, I will graduate in early 2021 and go to work in the healthcare field. In my state women with children are able to obtain assistance if needed. Ivy may be eligible for assistance with a lot of things until she gets her feet on the ground. I wish you the best Ivy! You can do this!!!🌸🌺🌺🌸💐🌸🌺🌺🌸

I’ve been where she’s been. I was depressed my parents were raising mine. Like he said at 12:48 making one good decision leads to more and leads to feeling better about yourself. I found a job, and ever since then life has been great. I pray every girl in the game GETS OUT. It’s Never too late!!!!!! Miracles happen in 2.5 seconds.

She is probably the most beautiful person that’s been on this channel. So young, wish someone would mentor her

Ivy is beautiful , and yet there is already a big change in her compared to the first interview. Mark, you're doing an amazing job. Hope you don't get discouraged with this. If you helped change just one person's life for the better you did your job. Anything beyond that is just a bonus but one can tell you're doing this from your heart.

When Mark said out of silence "do you know how beautiful you are?"... I think in that moment she needed that. And think about how amazing that must have felt hearing it from a man who wasnt trying to get anything out of her or use her. I want to take this girl in and show her how to love herself 😔

The way she paused when he called her beautiful is almost like she didn’t already know. That’s horrid

Man this is heartbreaking. The silence. It’s like her silence gives us a key in to how she’s feeling without her daughter. It’s like she’s thinking and hurting on an endless loop. Lord, give her hope! ❤️

She seems so, and doesn't blame others for her decisions. That makes it all the more heartbreaking, so much potential going the wrong way and she's aware of it

Huge shift from last video. Mental health shift. ❤ her sleeping more, sadness, deadness in her face, non verbal, fidgety. She is beautiful, Mark. You brought a smile.
