i hope you all know that the problem isn't with the fandom but its with the marketing a lot of the characters and the lore were watered down during plastic beach russle was one of the most important and well thought out characters for both phase 1 and phase 2. Russel was the entire reason Gorillaz would have collaborators in the first place and had many interviews during phase 1. In phase 2 he is even being seen going though grief of actually losing his friend and is seen explaining us through the songs of demon days. but in phase 3 he becomes a ain't monster due to toxic waste in the ocean with no explanation? as you can see the Groillaz team put russ and the background.
