Protec gig bags are the BEST in value and use..I've had mine for over 30 years..I have a older bags that has the slide cover on the side of the gig bag...I beefed up the slide cover with 3/8 inch thick sticky-back soundproofing foam...works great !! One of the best bags I ever owned...

LOVE my Protec Propac case! I've had it for almost 10 years and has always been super protective is SUPER tough.

Nice to see this, I’ve traveled internationally with the older version (molded duel mouthpiece compartment and Velcro bell section straps) I have checked it internationally with a K&M stand in the side pouch, and a pencil bag, plunger, and Yamaha silent brass (flat version) all inside the case without ever seeing any damage to my horn... darn near a miracle. Only problem is those darn velcro bits... after 6 years ALL of my Velcro has failed and I’ve had to have a maker friend convert the bell section straps to magnets, and make the bell end strap of the slide section elastic so that it doesn’t fly open when I open the lid. If ProTec would just replace all the Velcro with something else they’d be pretty much perfect. Also I’ve taken this case on probably 50 flights, I’ve checked it about 30% of the time, the rest I’ve put it in the overhead. Are there planes that won’t have overhead space big enough for this case? Yes... are you likely to find yourself on one often enough to risk a smaller case that will NOT survive being gate checked (or worse, checked with luggage)... no... my personal experience says this is the BEST case if you travel and want to get your trombone stand out of your checked luggage. Front desk checked, gate checked, fits overhead 90% of the time, domestic, international... I’ve done it all and my ONLY complaint is that darn Velcro!

If anyone watches that whole video and reads my whole comment (hey ProTec, if you’re reading this, Velcro fails... always. The buckle for the bell in this new version is a god send, more of that please!) pay attention to what Keith says about packing the horn. Put some spare tshirts etc in there whenever you travel with your horn. Years of international travel and I’ve never had a single dent, roll, scratch, or even messed up trigger while traveling with this case... it really is a miracle... and it’s the ONLY case I know of where you can keep your trombone stand in the case rather than have to travel with it eating up a ton of weight from your checked luggage. It’s not designed to fly so take my experience with a grain of salt, but again 6 years of regular international travel and my trombone is in perfect condition.

It is not unfortunately. Valve trombone cases are tricky; unless one can get an original manufacturer case for their exact model valve trombone most other available options are gig bags (and even they can be tricky to find.). I have had a number of players pick up Tuxedo bass trombone gig bags for their valve bones; the slide compartment is big enough to fit most any valve section and they are an affordable option.
