I feel like there's a reason why alot of companies that produce OTS autos largely use 154cm for them. Maybe its a steel that holds up best to long term impact from being deployed over and over again?

Not really, plenty of companies uses more "brittle" steels like s35vn for their autos including protech without any problems. They use 154cm because it's a decent mid range steel.

I have a knife with 154cm I carry and use hard everyday and it holds up great and sharpens easy reminds me of old German steel

The Pro-Tech operator iterstions are bad ass. I wouldn't mind getting a Op Newport too. I have this one and the SNG. Great blades. I hope they make more versions of it. I love the super clean blades.

It should be. Alot of movies that show a particular brand and style usually helps sell them. That’s why I bought the Spyderco Police model back in the 80’s. Forgot which movie I first saw it.

My only Pro-tech, so far, is the 921SWAT Godfather, which is nearly identical to this one that you’re showcasing, minus the tritium vial insert. I do have some concerns about the super-narrowed blade tang. Other than that, it’s a great knife!

How often do people really get in trouble for a large pocket knife legally? I feel like there’s a bigger problem you’ll have to worry about if your in the position where your being charged with a big auto knife

I have the godson looking at getting a godfather. I was looking and they have the operator and the swat but I don't see any difference between the 2. Do you know if there is one? Is it the tritium? Anyone looking at a godson don't fret it is an amazing knife. Best spring ive ever held. I have microtech on the way the 135-2RD (red serrations) I'm hoping that's comparable to the protech, it should be for 120$ more lol 😂

I just ordered the Godson to add to my collection. Probably least purposeful knife in my collection, but the shape is just so cool. Not made for anything but stabbing, but it better be soft stuff you're stabbing because anything hard will chip that tip. so a knife made to stab flesh. def not my EDC style since I cut ropes, boxes and what not, but still so cool to add to collection!

Just got my Godfather Operator today from Revolver Tactical. My third Protech and definitely not my last. Only question is which one to get next. Liking the Newport, Godson and fullsize Rockeye.

Any idea how it compares to a Kershaw Launch 8? Goofy stiletto horns aside they seem to be very similar and the Kershaw can be had for about 60% of the price.

The Protech Don is more comparable to the Launch 8 Kershaw. If kershaw is a buick, a protech is a Tesla.

Hey man I’ve been tellin this to the gun community for years, you don’t gotta justify likin it or prove What it’s used for especially on here. We all love knives I hope we all know deep down that we get knives a lot of the time for the “art aspect” I call it… where you just see something and for some reason it speaks to you and you like it it doesn’t have to have a purpose. And even if it is only used in a very specific niche scenario, that’s what all tools are used for … very very specific things, like an alternator belt removal tool, might not use it very much but it’s badasss when you need it and it’s cool how it works and I got the nice one cuz it’s USA made and that’s all cool but I also got it cuz I liked it and that’s fine. I like that you give your insight on use but tell everyone that watches that it’s cool and you like it just for that. More people should be Like you! We’d all be happier if we were less upset at each other or ourselves! Cheers cool vids!

Looks like the perfect concealed carry emergency self-defense backup knife. I can see it being used for stabbing when the fight has gone to the ground, you don't have a gun for whatever reason, and you're being outmaneuvered and dominated by your opponent who's better at BJJ than you are. My only concern is that the "cross-guard" (not sure what you all it) isn't robust enough. What I mean is that the grip seems to lack sufficient protection from the blade if you use if for stabbing. And what else would this knife be used for?

I'm a State Champion in Shotokan Karate. So I have some training in what to look for in a defensive knife. I wouldn't want to fight with this knife because there is no jimping or really anything helping your hand not slip down onto the blade while you're using it. Countless times I have heard or seen examples where a guy has his hand slip down. This is still a knife I'm interested in because I sure hope I never have to use any knife for defense. I would rather have a small version though.

The Swat model does not have the tridium insert and also has the Protech branding on the blade. The Operator model is completely blacked out and has the tridium insert

Is there damage that can be done to this knife with over and over again daily opening and closing? For example how the Chris reeves knives are meant to be opened slowly and not necessarily a fidgety knife? Going to order one and i already know I’m going to open and close this all day long lol. Open and close freely. Mine has probably been cycled at least 10 thousand times. Still as good as new!

Thanks for video. Really bad ass, awesome knife. No deep carry clip!!! On such type of knife. One day if u be in wrong place at the wrong time important is how fast you can deploy the knife-that why no deep carry clip.

As nice as the lines are on this knife and as good as the quality/reputation of Pro-Tech I can think of one improvement (in my eyes) that can be made. The tritium vail on the fire button need to be parallel to the body of the knife. The symmetry is thrown off by the angle of the tritium vail. Not only would this improve the symmetry but it would also allow the user to see the orientation of the knife quickly in a dark environment.

Its a shame the Operator configuration is vaporware. They are not available anywhere. The tritium vial is sick but the main reason its the best version is the lack of branding. The slick look is where its at. Just too bad you cant actually buy it

@@picklejamrecords8731 Yep it’s supposed to take effect in April. It doesn’t change local knife laws but does make it legal at the State level. I don’t think it will really change things much, I used to carry a Microtech OTF all the time and never had an issue but the police are not super strict in my local. I feel like you’d still have a problem in places like Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus even after the law changes.

@@oldthink84 Governor DeWine just wrote the law such that cities cannot enforce city specific knife laws over the state laws. He is the MAN. I carry an auto everday, all day and that includes the Godfather I have.
