Nice video, but I think prior to rubbing the seals with the PTFE solution, proper seal cleaning is better. I use a detailing (metal free) brush and microfibre cloth and a mild car cleaner e.g. a 10% solution of a good car shampoo. Rinse and brush with preferably demineralized water and detaiing brush, wipe dry with clean cloth and let completely air dry. Then do the PTFE treatment.

Hi there really helpful video. Can I just get by with cleaning the seals with soapy water & making sure that I dry them well before treating them? I will also be using a silicone spray for now because I have it , but also it is clear & some of the seals I will be treating are white. They are on my mini motorhome lockers.
@MySupercarLife2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, you can use anything to clean them with just make sure they are dry before you put the silicone on and you should be good to go!

How long does it take to dry? How long do I leave the door open until I can close the door.

Done it ! Now my rubber seals stick to each other, making it little hard to open my doors. Guess that must mean airtight. In terms of sound went down , I guess it did a little, but my rubber is already old with some little cracks and tear in few places. Thank you Kind Sir.

Is there anything you can use to stop the furry parts of the seal sticking/freezing in winter?
@MySupercarLife3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not really. Just try to keep them clean and dry

Hi great video man! i have a 2008 lexus is250, i noticed i have a minot rubbing noise from the B pillar, it sounds like the corner of the seal doesn't seats properely and rubbing the rubber on the pillar. is it's somthing that gummipfledge can help with?
@MySupercarLife8 жыл бұрын
It does sound like the seal may have dried out. You could always try some Vaseline first to see if that helps. It pretty much does the same (I stopped a convertible leaking with it). You'll just have to rub it in to the seal. If that works then get the Gummipfledge as it's only cheap, but if you have Vaseline (or petroleum Jelly) around then that's a cheap solution. I had to do my Audi as the doors nearly froze shut. The only problem now is that the windows squeak when I roll them up or down! I think they need a better clean!

Vaseline is petroleum based. Wouldn't that degrade the rubber?
@MySupercarLife2 жыл бұрын
I now use a silicone based product which is kinder on the seals. You can buy Silicone oil (for 3d printers and the like) for cheap which does a very good job on the seals
@paulo11492 жыл бұрын
@@MySupercarLife Thanks for that tip. I've also heard that lithium grease works well.

Can I try to clean with steamer without using the brush?
@MySupercarLife3 жыл бұрын
You can, but you should still brush any dirt out. Also watch you don't get the seal too hot.
@ADDONRACER8 жыл бұрын
you can also clean it with a microfiber towel..

When you say furry area are you not referring to felt?
@MySupercarLife4 жыл бұрын
No, it's a section of the rubber that has been flocked, I think it's to stop the seal rubbing on the paint. If you're not careful you can rub the fur off the rubber seal - sometimes it flakes off with age.

I have shoe shining liquid can i use it instead of the rubber care liquid?
@MySupercarLife8 жыл бұрын
Possibly, I'd say maybe give it a try in a small section of the seal. If it makes it soft and supple (after it dries) then it should be OK. If you do give it a try, please let us know how it went.
@billblackeye6 жыл бұрын
did you try it ?

I would not use Vaseline on rubber.....It will make rubber swell and deteriorate. A silicon grease or a grease that is rubber friendly such as Super Lube.
@MySupercarLife7 жыл бұрын
I've never had a problem with it, and it is listed as the main ingredient in the SONAX GummiPflege Stift. If in doubt though I would use the standard SONAX GummiPflege or the VRP.

Thanks for commenting. I've tried that in the past, but I don't find it lasts as long as the Sonax stuff. But if you already have the spray then it saves buying more products .👍

I've not had that problem personally, the shine disappears but the seals remain supple - what's happening with yours?

Don't know. I have the same product. Applied it on every single rubber part with care. Maybe Bmw is not as premium as it says
@MySupercarLife7 жыл бұрын
You cleaned the seals before applying? Maybe it's a different rubber compound or something weird. I've used it on a couple of cars and had success with it. I had an e46 once that had really bad wind noise from the side window - couldn't ever fix it.

I did. The squeak stoped but when the fist rain came...the annoying sound came back with it.
