i want to apologise for those i have upset for skipping the previous episode, i explained a bit further during last stream which will be uploaded on the VODs channel soon! :) i’ve been getting lots of hate on other socials due to it which i was not expecting.. and some people are being incredibly rude over it, which sucks haha. the MLP reactions may slow down for a little. thank you and be kind ❤️

I think it may be because you are a big creator that does reaction to the show. And the fandom hasn't seen this kind of reaction for like 3 years, I guess? It doesn't help that the fandom is still very passionate about the show, because it was a major part of their childhood. Yeah MLP is one of those... very passionate and vocal... communities that have a tendency to make their displeasure VERY known (sometimes to the point of literal death threats) if the internet person doesn't interact with the media in exactly the way they want them to. Like Undertale. Or Steven Universe. (Or most other things popular on Tumblr). That's messed up and people are taking it way too far. The world will not end if Aimsey skips a few episodes here or there. And I doubt very many more will be skipped without very good reason if for no other reason than to avoid another shitstorm like this. ☠

Also, that being said, I agree with the comments it isn't even problematic. It actually is just like our human history. People were racist and segregated, but thankfully, we've learned to love each other and be together. It's actually one of the best lessons because everyone should know that differences isn't something we should hate over. Whoever told you to skip it is either way to sensitive, racist or completely missed the point of the episode.

​@ariannapeterson1195 it doesn't help the show writers are neoliberal while the Studio is Neoconservative, leading to some bafflingly blindsiding decisions, like Over A Barrel and Bridle Gossip that gloss over contemporary systemic inequality and the problems it introduces to histroically oppressed groups, while insisting on maintaining the harmful status quo and overlooking the dangers of working with conservative and hypersensitive about working with progressives. Although I certainly agree that Hearth's Warming Eve shouldn't be skipped. Then again, I know she has issues with confrontation, so it might be best if she watches it with chat, or at least her girlfriend, so she has someone there to help her though the scenes of confrontation.

aimsey i dont think you should trust your chat so much about the show. Heartswarming Eve doesnt really have any "dark themes". The episode is about a play of the foundation of equestria when all pony races united despite their differences cuz their animosity was causing an eternal winter and it only stopped when they realized they werent so different and became friends. Really what is "dark" about it? If anything i'd recommend you take your chat's word as something to keep in mind rather than the absolute truth. I mean by that logic you should have also skipped zecora's introducing episode because it deals with the matter of racial prejudice

I gotta say, this is the first time I've seen someone avoid multiple My Little Pony episodes over concerns of the topics they touch on. I feel like this show, being what it is, with the tone it generally has, should be more than palatable, even for sensitive viewers. Especially so when, unlike Over the Barrel, there's nothing remotely controversial in Hearth's Warming Eve. That is, unless the very idea of depicting different groups of people finding (light) conflict in their differences, regardless of whether those differences are put aside and reach a positive resolution at the end, is too much for you. If that's the case, you're gonna have to rely on viewers or wikis to fill you in on all the plot, characters and lore that'll get dropped on you in random intervals from all the episodes you're gonna have to skip.

I also wrote a standalone comment. But you are right, there is no logical reason to skip this one. "Over a Barrel" is one I've seen multiple reactors skip, and a lot of the time when I re-watch the series I skip it. But "Hearth's Warming Eve" is such an important lore heavy episode! I don't get why the skip had to take place. News flash it didn't. You can't push unpleasant or hard to talk about topics away because you don't wanna talk about them. That's how things never get better. Plus there isn't anything that bad in the episode. The Windigos maybe. But they aren't like the "Wendigos" in human mythology.

But because you can relate to them more, it gives you more connection and respect for the charecters and the writers/creators who make and handle the topics in proper ways. I'm not saying they need to be in every show or movie no. Sometimes an escape is great for the psyche. But it cannot be avoided it just can't, it's like trying to avoid breathing or blinking its impossible. "Family Appreciation Day" was another awesome episode because we learn how Ponyville was founded all thanks to Granny Smith and the zap apples. This episodes did a good job of exploring the founding of the town, That's some excellent lore and storytelling right there!

@daisytoast there are entire episodes where Rainbowdash is a racist. There's an episode where Rarity is racist. There's an episode where Rarity is a spoiled little brat and gets saved by her friends from what looks like your average 9 to 5 job today. The reason episode 11 was skipped was specifically because of the use of native American spirits and the repeated use of their name. If you want to watch it, go watch it on your own time. Aimsey can skip streaming it if they want to, and he doesn't need a reason because she is a person too who gets uncomfortable with things and actually talks to people about their comfort level with certain episodes. They can choose to stream it or watch it in his own time. That is her choice. He might not have asked his audience, and they might have talked to a friend about it. No one mislead them, and my little pony covers sensitive topics in a way that makes it easy to understand, but episodes do come with offensive topics. Maybe it's not about what you or a tiny group of the fans want. Maybe it's because she wants everyone in his audience to feel like they have a safe space.

I don't think skipping episodes is a good idea... I mean for someone who is a real fan of MLP, skipping episodes is not a good way to enjoy the show just because one or two people might find it "problematic", some of them are very good episodes, which help us connect even more with the characters and will help us understand many things later on. I'm Brazilian and I watch your streams to help with my English, and watching MLP was one of the things that helped me the most when I was learning, seeing Aimsey skipping episodes makes me very sad, because many of them aren't even AS PROBLEMATIC as many are saying they are.

Wait, I am genuinely confused as to why you skipped "Hearth's Warming Eve." I'm sorry, but it just seems detrimental and sends the opposite message you are trying to send. Sure, it touches on racism, but not very much. It's more about how these groups of ponies, despite their differences and arguments, came together and overcame those differences. If you are going skip an episode just because it touches on a subject that *you* don't like, then maybe mlp isn't for you. MLP, for the most part isn't afraid to touch on those unpleasant subjects. If that's too much for you, maybe you should stop watching. Because you will be skipping a lot of the episodes that are revered as some of MLP FIM's best. Please, I can't watch someone enjoy this series and miss out on gems like "Hearth's Warming Eve" and eventually season 2 finale and "Times they are a Changling." "Hearth's Warming Eve" is one of my favorites from season 2. And it pains me greatly to see someone skip just because of someone else's opinion on it's controversial quality. Which is minimal to none. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE COMPLAIN ABOUT "HEARTH'S WARMING EVE." I've been in this fandom since season 2 premiere aired. For the love of everything, go back and watch "Hearth's Warming Eve." i really hope people aren’t being unnecessarily rude to you! i think a lot of us are just confused as to why you skipped s2e11 because there really isn’t anything harmful that people can identify. i’m sure you do have your reasons, and you’re completely valid to watch the show how you choose! don’t take this as me going “you have to watch this episode immediately!!” because you shouldn’t be forced to do anything you don’t want to (although maybe getting a brief rundown on the lore you missed may help, because it is very important for the rest of the series). it might be good to maybe run censorship choices you receive by multiple people in the future, though. if you don’t already.

Skipping episode in a fantasy setting because of inaccurate depictions of real world subjects is like not calling colors colors because you are color blind. It's Hearthswarming Eve, not Christmas. It's Nightmare Night, not Halloween. MLP does not occur at any point in time on the planet we call home. Nothing that occurs there has bearing on our history. Should we be mad that Skyrim has chickens and lavender and trolls and mamoths in the same space and time? I almost subbed... watch the missing episodes, please, and I might reconsider.

@@VeeAllar738 s1 ep 21, "over the barrel" its the episode with the bison and some people have tied in history to that so some people see it as an issue, okay fine whatever still werid but whatever. And s2 ep11, hearths waeming eve, aka one of the biggest lore episodes and the first holiday special. This is where i start to have an issue because the shoe is a magical pony show for toddlers the lessons are always about love and acceptance and what not. Its an old story about how the 3 pony races used to hate eachother but in their final moments came together as one. "At the end of the day we're just ponies" ITS SUCH A GOOD LESSON!! and yet aimsey has skipped it for 1. "Dark themes" and 2. Because one of the mtyhical creatures has a similar name (but entitely different) to something bad in human history. My first big problem with that logic is she will skip most lore episodes, finales, and premires, esentially just watching "filler" episodes so to speak. And my 2nd biggest problem is that the pattern is skipping racial episodes which sends a god awful message to her fans. - and yet when i brought this up she banned me on twitch and replied to me here on yt saying its unnecessary + she has also decided to ignore her entire yt audicence aka people who have actually watched the show and trying to give her advice and critiscm cuz she cares ab the softness of her twitch fanbase meanwhile playing games like fnaf in the same streams she watches mlp

I posted this comment last video. But I posted it rather late (yesterday evening), so I don't think many people read it. Reposting it now to hopefully spark some discussion and get Aimsey's attention: (Sorry in advance. This turned into a bit of a wall-of-text and perhaps reads a bit snarkier than intended. But these are my true thoughts on the matter. Please read if you have time.) I agree with the people saying Season 2 Episode 11 Hearth's Warming Eve shouldn't be skipped. The lore is super important, so you should at least watch it on your own time. But beyond that, skipping it still irks me, because it's not actually that dark... at all... and it has a happy ending (of course)! It's from a show with a primary target audience of around 8-11 year old kids; it's not Steven King! Skipping it sets a bad precedent for the rest of the show. (That said, before I continue any further, let me emphasize though it should go without saying, I'm referring specifically to S2E11, NOT the other episode that's been skipped so far: Over a Barrel. Fuck Over a Barrel. OaB is insensitive at best and outright racist at worst. But I don't get that vibe from HWE. Like, to the point I've never heard anyone complain about it. Ever. Even after being in the fandom for 8 years. While by comparison OaB is almost unanimously considered one of the worst episodes in the show.) It irks me in part because I don't like the precedent skipping it sets. I'm left wondering: what other episodes (potentially fan-favorites, or potentially important to the overall plot/worldbuilding) are next to be skipped without warning? * Are we skipping the season 2 finale? Without giving spoilers, it has what may well be the fandom's favorite song, but as a whole the scenario is actually very dark when you really think about it! * How about the season 5 intro? Those two episodes are probably the darkest episodes in the entire show, perhaps by far! Even the song is dark! It's about a serious-enough real-world topic that if I remember correctly, I think it's even been referenced in academic papers before! * The S5 metaphorical episode involving a pet? Dark if you consider the metaphor! Especially if you headcanon it which many do! * The S5 episode where a former villain is plagued by intense guilt? If you consider the deeper meanings of that episode, it's as dark or darker than HWE! * S5 finale? This is jam-packed with lore...! ...Dark... lore! As dark as a Y7 show can allow! (various allusions to war, slavery, capitalist-induced environmental destruction, etc.)! * Maybe it's specifically racism between the types of ponies and/or other creatures that's the issue? If so, will we also be skipping both the S8 intro and finale (the Chancellor Neighsay episodes)? And those are just a few examples! (Mostly from S5. I've recently rewatched S5. Does it show?) Every episode I just listed (other than the S8 ones. S8 is mid) are beloved and considered some of the best of the entire show. If we're really gonna be skipping episodes, can we please, if it's not too much to ask, at least get a list far ahead of time so we know not to look forward to those episodes and can explain to you anything about the lore that you might miss out on from not watching those episodes? HWE was one of the S2 episodes I was most looking forward to seeing you react to as it's one of my personal S2 favorites, mostly due to the lore, and now it's just not happening... seemingly spontaneously... for no other reason than one person assured you it has "dark themes". Fair enough, watch or don't watch what you want, but I just personally consider it a very baffling decision, and I don't see pretty much anyone actively questioning it. (At least yet, anyways. I'm already predicting the E12 youtube upload will be obnoxiously spammed with "E11 where???" by users who missed your explanation and who will likely be every bit as baffled). Edit for after E12 has been posted: my prediction is entirely correct. Seems like every other comment is about E11 being skipped.

Oof 😭 But yeah I completely agree with you. It may have some dark themes such as racism or "specieism" and such but... Assuming the timeline this would've been in atleast the 1800's, and let's just say people weren't the friendliest back then. Racism, homophobia, witch trials, sexism, fearing anything even slightly different from you. Well, you get the point. I'm basically saying... You can't expect everything to be "happy", because it won't. Sometimes you gotta learn how to deal with not getting along with people. Because some people aren't good people. And they won't want to be nice to you. And that's fine. But that doesn't mean you should completely ignore the issue at hand. Of course this could be taken out of context by saying "oh your fine with racism??" But no. That's not what I'm trying to say. Racism is a problem yes, and yes it's completely messed up and irrational but... You can't just expect to ignore a problem and it to be okay. One day that problem will be a bigger one. Like a broken bone or infection. Don't leave it because it'll just get worse.

I believe the episode was actually skipped not due to the themes but because, if I recall correctly, it features the Windigos, which were directly inspired by Native American mythology, and it could be seen by people who believe in them as a bit of appropriation due to how significant it is, and maybe the show not handling the inclusion as well as it could have. I don’t really have any opinion on whether he should have watched it or not myself, since IIRC the Windigos don’t have a lot of other mentions to them apart from other Hearth’s Warming Eve stories and their brief appearance in the series finale. Also, the other lore that is introduced is still fairly easy to pick up on just through context clues or tidbits mentioned later in the show, since it is a kids program, and a kid may not watch all the episodes anyway.

@@FantasyTheSloth Plus, the lesson is literally about overcoming such prejudices and the moral anyone should be taking from it is that the leaders of ancient Equestria were bigoted jerks who were unfit to lead. And these are fantasy races not mapped to any real life peoples (in contrast to, say, the buffalo or zebras whose episodes are more real-life problematic). It maps nicely to a condemnation of real-life prejudice without in any way ever reinforcing real-life prejudices. It's a great episode even if you ignore all the lore, etc.!

@@lisahenry20 Fair enough, your complaint is valid, but my standalone comment was an effortpost that took over an hour to write and revise (originally posted very late on yesterday's video. Though I suppose maybe I'm just a slow writer). I was originally hoping to post early and focus all criticism and discussion about E11 largely into a single thread instead of 20+ to make it easier for Aimsey to understand what people's complaints are and what exactly might be actionable about them, since as it stood then, and still stands now, most comments are complaining without adding much of substance that the other complaining comments haven't already said numerous times. (Mine isn't free of complaining either, but I at least tried to thoroughly justify it). (And I guess ultimately this single-threaded deep-discussion is more something Discord is suited for than YT). I was mostly alerting people who posted really soon after the video was uploaded before I posted my comment but might find it interesting, or people who posted soon after I posted when my comment was still buried. And I only ever posted as a reply to people also complaining about the E11 skip, not anyone posting an on-topic comment about E12, or a more general comment about Aimsey, or etc. The last time I posted the somewhat spammy comment was probably around 4 hours ago, still pretty soon after the video was posted. And overall, my intent failed so I stopped soon after. (In fact it seems my comment is still mostly buried by the algorithm despite 30+ upvotes.) Hey Aimsey, can I just say, I'm really sad and disappointed episode 11 of season 2 in specific was skipped because it involves some really important Lore things for the show that you will NOT want to miss, and I can understand why you would want to skip it but I'm sure you know it all comes well in the end and it actually completely misses the point for you to skip it because the ponies in the end all learn an important lesson. The problem with this though is that all episodes containing them are important to the lore AND the series' final. You mean the windigos? Cuz if so those are established to be different from the actual WENdigos on Native American myth, therefore there isn’t any inaccurate depictions of any real world myth. I could understand the confusion as the names are definitely derived from the wendigo, as well as mlp often using real mythological creatures in the show, but that episode has legit nothing wrong with it. If it was the pony racism she would have 1) skipped the zecora episode and 2) the episode legit shows that the racism was a close minded and bad way of thinking, and that uniting together makes their species as a whole is better off. Nothing wrong with ep 11

Yeah, you made a mistake skipping Hearths Warming Eve. Firstly it's actually pretty damn important in terms of getting stuff later in the show, a lot of later episodes deal with the holiday and if you skip over the very first episode to address the lore, you're gonna miss out on a lot. Secondly, there's literally nothing in it that is problematic. Yes it's an episode that deals with racism between the pony tribes, but much like in Bridle Gossip, just having themes of racism doesn't imply support of racism, it's very much treated like a bad thing in universe! If you're gonna skip any episode that tackles themes of racism because racism is 'problematic', well, enjoy skipping the entire final 2 seasons! Is it because the monsters in the episode are called 'Windigoes', as in a parody of the Native American 'Wendigo'? I may be a clueless white person but I highly doubt your average Native American is gonna be up in arms because a monster from Algonquin folklore is being parodied in a cartoon. Bottom line, just do yourself a favour and don't listen to your chat if they tell you to skip an episode. MLP has filler episodes, it has mid episodes, but if you really want the full experience you shouldn't skip any of them.

I never use the term "snowflake" lightly, but her whole chat is a blizzard! Even though I think the idea of skipping ANY episode in a Y7 show is dumb, I can at least understand Over a Barrel (even though its a fantasy setting, grow up). But to skip literally the first Christmas episode with a bunch of lore in a play about racism is straight up disrespectful. If your bar is set so low for what constitutes "problematic" then save us some time and stop watching the show right now. You're actually a child.

People are being so unreasonably pissed over episode 11 being skipped. I love the episode but I can’t imagine getting so heated over how someone watches a kids show. Anyway, I love this episode and I love Granny Smith! Her story of how Ponyville was founded is so wonderful.

@@lonelylexi123 And more than that I think the thing just as many people are anxious about is the precedent this sets. Over a Barrel was real-life problematic and Aimsey is far from the first streamer/reactor to skip it. But if we start skipping episodes that respectfully handle topics we'll miss lots of important episodes. And if random chat members are trusted about which episodes to skip, how long until someone trolls Aimsey by telling her not to react to pivotal moments such as the S3 finale, that one really important episode from mid S5, or that one really sentimental episode from S7? (Trying not to spoil by not even giving titles. The ones I mean should be obvious). I mean, at least she's watching them regardless, but it makes the whole thing a bit disjointed and it'd be sad to miss her genuine reactions due to a troll!

I reallt cant get over her skipping race episodes when its 1. Nothing bad, 2. Massive lore/amazing lessons, and 3. She watched the freaking zecora episode!!! Imo over the barrel isnt that bad but like...skipping the holiday episode? Heartswarming has several times in the show including the double length special later down the line. In fact the holiday gives one of my favorite episodes with the introduction of the pie family :( and like anything after s4 has darker themes.. i just??
