Even though she is younger she must be far more experienced in battle as we saw when they first fought together. Celestia only won because of the elements and because it is a kids show. Also, daybreaker only won because of her fire powers, while Nightmare moon had no elemental power, which is quite unfair.

The royal sisters arguing like children is actually one of the most fun characterizations they could have done and why they have by far my favorite dynamic out of anyone in the show. And despite that I wouldn't say they're lacking in wisdom or anything, they've just been around long enough to know how to have fun.

In Forgotten Friendship, Sunset Shimmer is shocked at Celestia’s playful side and says her having a sense of humor was a change. It’s also possible Sunset just never got to see that side of her. I believe Twilight was surprised the first time Celestia laughs as well.

To anyone: "Dream pony" is credited as such because that's what the writers (Lewis and Songco) wrote the dialogue as for; they didn't know the same pony would be used by the storyboard or layout artist(s) earlier in the episode as the foal Luna gets her picture with.

This episode is honestly so fun at times, that i forget its one of my least favorites. Then arbitrary map "rules", Starlight being OP enough to magically change two goddesses cutie marks, the srbitrary rule that the spell has to last 24hrs, and the nonsensical characterization of Luna and Celestia. Like... these two lived and worked together for who knows how many decades or centuries before Luna got banished, and its been 2-3 years since her return... and THIS is the first time theyre facing the issue of disliking each others habits? Really? ...but Daybreaker is awesome and panicky Twilight, so eh 😅

The fact the map acknowledged Starlight takes no BS and has a guts to do something like she did is EXACRLY why she was sent. Everyone else ESPECIALLY twilight would blindly side with celestia which wouldn't be helpful. Starlight basically told the royal sisters "now listen here you little shits! I think, out of all the cutie mark centric eps, this one's my absolute favorite. It's super cool getting to see more of Celestia and Luna's inner dynamics. Not to mention that, as cliché as the plot is, it's fits the two really well! I also felt that it fills in the source for Luna's jealousy and adds to it, it adds an extra layer to it by making the jealousy sort of a two way street.

I really feel like this episode is the amalgamation of all the mis-steps this season made. A "friendship" problem filtered entirely through arbitrary map rules affecting the interactions (only one character can interact with the princesses, Twilight can only interact with Starlight in an incredibly limited way), and of course the characterization issue you pointed out at 2:00. Celestia and Luna "being sisters" is fun when it's about something petty, less so when it's about something actually important. Along with the whole "using magic to solve your problems" thing that every Starlight episode touches on.

Season 7 is probably my favorite season. The map couldn't have sent Twilight as she wouldn't have been able to solve the problem. And, no, not every Starlight episode has her using magic to solve her problems.

I love this episode, it's one of my favorite takes on "let's see how these characters fare in each other's shoes". Between Twilight projecting herself through the music box, another glimpse at Celestia and Luna acting like sisters, Starlight doing her very best, and the badass Daybreaker, I wish we got more episodes like this. There's also Nightmare Star in the Trading Card Game, but I really can't decide if I love her or Daybreaker more... I choose both!

Heck yeah, Cinemare Sins time again! "A Royal Problem" is one of my favorite Starlight episodes, It was very interesting to see Starlight be summoned by the cutie mark map to Canterlot. Although I can remember a lot of people in the fandom not liking that the episode pretty much went all Freaky Friday with the switching of Celestia and Luna's cutie marks, But I thought it was good for Celestia and Luna character development wise because in the end they gained a new respect and appreciation for each other. And of course it was intriguing to see Celestia and Luna perform each others royal duties, I especially loved Day breaker she was totally badass!

In the scrapped version of this episode, the map originally sent Twilight to solve a friendship problem between the royal sisters which didn't involve whoever had a harder job. It's no wonder she's bending the map rules to be here, Twilight's jealous that the plot was changed to have Starlight solve the problem.

Uhhh, my favorite episode of the series! This episode never fails to bring a smile on my face. The sisters interactions with each other and with starlight, twi's worrying and stalking starlight were really funny and great. The whole nightmare sequence was awesome, even the part before Celestia intervened (The pancakes repeating celestia, ballerina starlight, etc.). Its not flawless, but the faults are pretty minor and don't take anything away from the episode. Its was also nice to see nightame moon again, even it was not really her. As for Daybreaker, I personally think she is a manifestation of SGs nighmare and Celestia's insecurity (we know Luna's magic influence dreams, if she can't control her emotions its possible that it can become something like Daybreaker). She is savage, she had a short appearance but it left a big mark. She had some of the best lines in the series.

Was looking forward to this one. Can someone tell me, cos I haven't watched this one since it debuted, was this the one where Starlight was hyperventilating and the guard asked if she was ok and she responded by saying she was reading an exciting book? If so, I dunno. That line kinda made me do a double take (curse adulthood). That Daybreaker bit by the way, I remember doing the whole "ohhhhh!" thing and laughing at every insult she slugged at Nightmare Moon. I wonder if I'd still do that now...probably. This is the Cinemare Sins video I have been waiting for so long. This is my favorite episode in all of Friendship is Magic. It is the Celestia and Luna episode we had wanted for so long, and it did not disappoint. The funny moments of Luna struggling to do Celestia's royal duties. Celestia seeing and taking part in the epic battle between Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon, the evil counterparts of both royal sisters, such a badass battle and moment. The bond of the royal sisters getting stronger and better. And also being Starlight's first ever friendship mission, and having to do it all on her own without anyone else helping her. After she saved Equestria from Queen Chrysalis in the season 6 finale, this is even more character growth and development for her. Absolute masterpiece of an episode!
