Donny takes some time off from the pub and tries to make amends with Teri. But no matter how much he avoids Martha, he can't escape her for long.

Jessica Gunning who plays Martha is actually from West Yorkshire and has a northern/Yorkshire accent instead of Scottish. She is in The Outlaws on BBC iPlayer

I don't know if you're aware, Richard Gadd wrote this based off of his personal experience. He was the victim in this and apparently it's very true to what happened to him.

Honestly, I think that's the point. And that's why it's funny: because Donny Dun is a terrible comedian at the start (ep 4 is a prime example of this.)

I worked at a really great comedy club for years. No, this is not what they are like. This is what amateur hours and open mics are like. Very hit and miss with unpolished acts.

Teri frustrates me. She's a LICENSED THERAPIST. After the pub incident, why is it impossible for Teri to pick up on Donny's depressive disorder/ trauma-bonding cues? I'd hate to be one of her clients, she'd probably make the sessions all about her feelings.

true but also what Martha did to her it's pretty traumatic too so she probably wasn't too good herself to pick up on Donny trauma

Logic much? How does Teri’s interpretation of Donny’s and Martha’s mental states supposedly insufficiently deep say ANYTHING about what kind of therapist she is at work? Therapists are not “at work” in their private relationships, that would be emotional labor and toxic. She did openly describe the lack of emotional logic to how Donny handled the stalking and had the discernment to call out Donny fulfilling some irrational needs by remaining in the stalker dynamic. And Terri was healthily focused on Donny so why would you presumptively assume that she makes Clients’ issues about herself? OFC a professional would immediately recognize this type of delusional violent stalker can become dangerous and Terri’s idea of a “talk” with Martha was absurd but therapists sometimes make unwise decisions about the mental health of people they haven’t met personally. If this was “real” , not a fiction TV show, ANY licenced therapist would contact LE and someone who specializes in stalkers. So weird how quickly you assumed Terri “makes everything about herself” when nothing in the narrative of the character reveals anything remotely like that. Misogyny? Transphobia?

@@Sad_bumper_sticker. I appreciate your comments and admitted in previous ones that I was probably asking too much from Teri. However, this story is not a piece of fiction, but based on Gadd's life experience. There was a 'Teri..' And although it's not Teri's job to 'fix' Donny's situation, I thought she was unnecessarily cruel towards him when she implied Donny was enjoying the attention and 'loved it.' The man was terrified of Martha. Likewise, it also wasn't Donny's responsibility to go to the police and file a report when Martha attacked Teri. Certainly the police would want to speak to the actual victim, rather than receive secondhand information from Donny. Yet Teri asked Donny if HE filed the report concerning HER attack .Lastly, using words like 'misogynist' and 'transphobic' is ludicrous.I criticized Teri on the basis of being a mental health professional who couldn't see her partner's fairly obvious symptoms. And actually, no-- I honestly don't know of a single medical or clinical specialist who 'shuts off'' that part of themselves when they're off the clock- .Hence, why we are all on this page listening to a Licensed Therapist provide feedback on the series.
