I’m going on my third season with my ADCO cover and it’s held up great in the crappy, cold, windy, Chicagoland area. There’s not a single tear in it. The trick is to cover all sharp edges, I recommend pool noodles and get it as tight as you can.

Good stuff. Thanks Josh. I spent ~$185 on a cover one year ago, and I figure it might make it through the winter while stored in E. Tenn. If I have to spend $185 every year and a half to keep the sun and weather from beating the crap out of a *no longer produced* orange Winnebago Minnie, it is well worth it.

I ran across an example of why you should store your rv under cover just last week. An 04 chinook with a very clean and beautiful interior that looked like a mangy dog on the outside because the texas sun had destroyed the clear coat on the full body paint. Dealer was asking for 10 grand less than the next cheapest 2500 glacier presumably because the exterior looked so bad.

Another excellent video! In my neck of the woods we often have high winds, and I’ve seen covers cause chaffing. We also get 112+ heat in blistering sun, so I think a cover is worth it. Just buy quality and make sure it is snug.

Covering an RV is definitely a good idea. The sun will kill it. Only problem is, I have yet to find a cover that lasts. I have tried three different brands and used their best quality. Will not last more than one season, two if we’re lucky. The sun disintegrates the material, and it will then rip, if you look at it wrong. The wind will also rip it even if you pad all sharp edges and install the rain gutter guard balls. I had the guard ball punch right thru a new cover in the wind. No one will warranty the covers against wind damage. What is your suggestion on the best quality cover that will last to its 3 year claim? We are in coastal California, and don’t get snow.

They're definitely not an "across the board" sort of thing. I should've touched on that so I'm glad you're bringing this up. I live in Iowa and just bought a 2020 apex 288bhs and was told a cover would destroy the paint. They suggested to wax and put a UV protectant on twice a year. Which would you suggest Midwesterner to Midwesterner
@JoshtheRVNerd5 жыл бұрын
In a word: Both. 2020 Apex aren't painted. They stopped painting the nose caps a few seasons ago once they adopted that windshield. UV Protectant = Great once the season hits. Then use the cover thru winters or long storage seasons.

So, went to our local RV shop to buy a cover for the travel trailer we just got, and was told that covers do more damage by holding in moisture? Lady said your RV is meant to be in the elements and a cover would only increase the wear on the seals and such... Does she know what she is talking about? I live in the snow belt, and I worry about the vents on the roof including the AC unit, I believe these areas should be protected when snow will be sitting on it for 3 months. Please advise.

In a previous "cover your RV" video you recommended the Classic Accessories PermaPro with it's lifetime warranty. Is there a reason for the changed recommendation? (I bought the PermaPRo!)
@JoshtheRVNerd5 жыл бұрын
*EXCELLENT QUESTION!* They're still great covers, but they no longer carry a lifetime warranty. So, essentially, it puts them on an even playing field with these ADCO covers. We are able to get a better deal on the ADCOs, so it's basically the same effective result for a client at less money for the ADCO.

Love the videos. I hope you can answer a question. I live in New England with lots snow and ICE. I want to use a cover but wondered if there is something you should do to the air conditioner (and vents) so the cover doesn't damage them with the weight of the snow. Thanks for your help
@JoshtheRVNerd3 жыл бұрын
We get plenty of that here as well. It really depends on the RV's construction. if it has a snow-load rated roof, then you're ace It doesn't hurt to get the snow off now and but I really don't like people being on top of an RV if the roofing is iced up
@lucasdog15 жыл бұрын
My '00 fleetwood said in the owners paperwork that covering the camper would void roof and floor warranty. I didnt use a cover and they had to replace the roof, under warranty, at 4 years anyway. I dont know if it would have lasted longer if it was covered, or if I would've had to pay for the replacement if I had covered it.

I’ve read here that both ADCO and PermaPro are on an even playing field because of PermaPro dumping the lifetime warranty. ADCO offers the tire covers with their package but PermaPro with separate tire cover purchase is cheaper by only a few bucks. So the only thing I’d like to ask is which is the easier installation? Any input about that?
@JoshtheRVNerd5 жыл бұрын
We agree that they're roughly on a level playing field. With ADCO including tire covers on their all-weather cover (which is what we stock exclusively) & our supplier offering them at slightly less cost than the PermaPro it was simply the better value. I've not personally put both on an RV, but I've never found any cover really "hard" to use -- just a little time consuming. It's not something to approach and say "i'll just do this real quick."

What about wasps and spiders crawling up under it? I’m here in southern MI and have some woods adjacent to my yard. I know it sounds great but there is a downside, CRITTERS! They live in the woods but don’t like staying there (rude!) Spiders are the real concern, they blow in like locusts I swear! I don’t want to spray my (future) camper with something that’ll ruin the cover I (will have) bought to protect it, but I also don’t want to take the cover off to discover Shelob’s lair under there. What’s the advice for that?
