Thank you. I am so protective of my folks. This makes me realize it could be time to invest in a place closer to them to visit comfortably more often.

I am going through it right now by a family member. No one would listen nor care. I have NEVER imagined this could happen to me. Particulary, I helped them a lot. Most amazing thing is NOT WANTUNG TO KNOW ELDERLY ABUSE IS REAL AND HAPPENING RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!!

I'm with you. Been going through this now for a couple months. Relative came into uncle's life (after 40 years no contact) and with 3 months, she had the POA and Will changed. Isolated him from everyone. Multiple police reports, APS, VA. APS is sabotaging, so crucial medical evidence was not given to court. Criminal is basically protected and she will have him dead before the end of the year to collect everything she is "entitled" to. No laws or help in place to prevent any of this. Why not at least start with a background check on a POA? Lots of evidence, no one can help. We need some heroes, because everyone will be older sooner or later, get that youngsters?

@keikonakatsuka7001 I'm so sorry to hear that you're experiencing this distressing situation. It’s incredibly painful when family dynamics turn difficult, especially when it involves neglect or abuse. It's understandable to feel a mix of emotions, from disbelief to frustration, especially after you’ve offered support. Please know that you are not alone in this, and it’s important to seek help for both yourself and the person affected. There are organizations and hotlines that specialize in elder abuse and can provide guidance and support. Your feelings matter, and you deserve to be heard and supported in this tough time. 💔

Thank you for your reply. Elderly abuse is NOT new. It’s been going on for eons and most people don’t care. Harming another human, particularly your own family members whom provided, cared and took care of you! 😢

I was born in Wakefield West Yorkshire where abuse of the elderly and disabled is increasing. We have no rights and get no respect from the public or authorities. Attitudes have changed to the detriment of these 'groups' over the decades where psychological abuse is increasing where if the elderly protest they are labelled as pedophiles by young gangs. I believe that the State sympathises with the youth in targeting the elderly for exploitation and abuse. Drug gangs make much money from the elderly and disabled who have become isolated and live in enclaves in built up areas. We are targeted by criminals because we have housing and benefits and are vulnerable. I suspect that this phenomena has been occurring for a long time but fear and dependency rules in suburbs where the preponderance of elderly and disabled is high you will find the criminal gangs appear. For the elderly no-one can be trusted and for the youth to abuse them is a right of passage to obtaining status on the street and in detention. The culture of abuse is growing even though the gangs leaders can range from 30s to 50 years of age themselves. I met a peodophile couple who had carved out a complete child prostitution racket in a area designated for the elderly and disabled. The couple dealt drugs and employed children to rob the vulnerable and use them as smoke screens to disguise the activities of the gang. The male was ex army and could not be convicted because of prejudice towards the vulnerable. I think the solution is euthanasia for vulnerable people as this abuse will not stop. I'm in the process of applying for termination in Belgium where the culture is more accommodating to resolve this issue. The UK is not a democracy and is retarded from the top down.

Elder abuse is a critical issue that can affect anyone as they age, involving physical, emotional, financial, or neglectful harm by caregivers or others. It's essential to raise awareness and take action to protect the elderly, ensuring dignity, respect, and care for all individuals as they grow older. Remember, safeguarding our elders today sets a precedent for the treatment we hope to receive in the future.

Elder abuse is a serious issue that affects vulnerable older adults, often involving physical, emotional, financial harm, or neglect. It's crucial to raise awareness, speak out against it, and take action to protect our elders. If you suspect elder abuse, report it to local authorities or social services immediately. Together, we can work to ensure that all seniors are treated with the respect and care they deserve.

My daughter pinned me against the wall shoving her head into my face screaming at me came after me with a knife threw an open full can of soda at me as hard as she could. Grabbed me by the hair and yanked my head down . Hit me in the chest and cracked my rib. Would come after me with her fist and if I flinched she'd laugh. Left me with a $800.00 gas bill. Called me a bitch and a can't told me she wished I'd have a stroke and die. Ate every drop of food that I had in my house. Stole se eral belongings from me and sold them on Craigslist. Had a yard sale at my house and sold my belongings. On and on and on. I thought she loved me. I thought she was my ride or die. I went out one day and when I came back her her pets whatever belongings she hadn't sold yet were all gone. I heard from her once demanding her w2s. Oh and the day after she left she came over with a cop to get whatever she had forgotten. I told the cop what had happened and that she owed me nearly $1000. He said if I didn't give her the rest of her stuff he'd arrest me. I'm still traumatized and that was almost 1 1/2 years ago

@not_today_satan_7 I'm so sorry you had to go through such a traumatic and heartbreaking experience. What you've described is not only elder abuse but a severe violation of trust and safety. It's important to seek support and protection, whether through legal means, counseling, or trusted individuals who can help you heal and navigate this situation. You deserve to feel safe, valued, and respected. Please consider reaching out to local resources or authorities who can assist you in ensuring your well-being and pursuing justice if you choose to. No one should have to endure such treatment, especially from a loved one. My thoughts are with you as you continue to recover from this painful experience.

@angiea8022 Yes, yelling in someone’s face, especially an elderly person, can be emotional abuse. It’s heartbreaking to hear about your mom’s experience-she deserves kindness and respect. I hope someone steps in to support her and help create a safer environment.

Start with Luma the price of electricity is absurdly expensive for the elderly.. everybody over 65 years old should pay half of the regular bill or just charge them 50 a month.. wich is agreeable,, Hope Luma see this as a step in the right direction.The way to get acceptance from the people of Puerto Rico.
@MedicalCentric
@MedicalCentric 5 ай бұрын
@joseveles2288 Addressing the high cost of electricity for the elderly is an important issue, especially for those on fixed incomes. Proposing a reduced rate for people over 65, like paying half the regular bill or a flat $50 per month, could significantly ease their financial burden. It would be a meaningful step towards supporting the elderly population and could also help build goodwill between utility companies like Luma and the people of Puerto Rico. Advocacy and raising awareness about this need could potentially lead to positive changes for those most affected.
