Since the discovery of the bee disease Varroa Mite on Australia's East Coast farmers have been concerned about pollination.
A fruit grower on Queensland's Capricorn Coast saw the warning signs early and started preparing.

Hi there, I'm the farmer in the video. Most of my hives are home-made and populated, although the one I split was a Doug Irvine box since it was the only one I had ready for duplication at the time of filming. Doug Irvine only sells empty boxes (true works of art though). Plenty of others sell populated hives. Dr Tim Heard ( the other guy in the story) sells populated hives under the name 'sugarbag bees' He is based in Brisbane. Where abouts are you? Cheers David
