What a great insight coming from one of the closest people with Diana during her royal years, Ken is one of the few I listen to earnestly, he is fair in addressing the issues she had while uplifting her life and spirit. You can tell he is someone who really cared about her and I think he mostly shares his perspective or recollections to either keep Diana in good memory or to share the warning signs of what went wrong.

@@JennyGoddard-tm6bb Btw, I was born in the 60s, just a couple of years younger than Diana and that wench always gave me the creeps as sly and manipulative. Yes I agree with your comment, but I'm sure 'the family' wouldn't have agreed. actually that was only Prince Charles who would not agree, because he never loved Diana only his mistress Camila, and as soon as Diana was dead in that French Tunnel accident? married his mistress Camila, then also had her crowned his Queen and he is King now in Britain? Both of them, Charles and Camila have now stained the Royals for ever, nobody in Britain will ever love Charles or Camila, But we will always loved Princess Diana, and she would also have been Crowned our Queen, No one has any respect for a cheating husband on his Wife Diana, or that Mistress Camilla. Inspector Ken Wharfe had been the right person for Princess Diana as security. I wish he still was the night the accident happened (may not happened). I felt the same as he, there should have been more security that night, and more well planned. It should have been a different driver, one that had not been drinking too! Yes, she wanted to have more of a normal life after the divorce, but that would not be soon (maybe years later and older). She was still the most sought after woman in the world to be photographed (happening on her last vacation). I can tell the inspector got to know Princess Diana because of her friendliness, warmth, her sense of humor, easy to work for, and her professionalism (but not storic). I wish she had listened to the inspector's advice of still having security (more during the whole trip and that night), and think she would be alive today too. He could not believe her death at first either. My husband was getting ready for work, heard on the TV Princess Diana was in an accident and killed. I thought, that is a fake story, but learned it was not. To my last day, her death will still be very sad. She loved her sons very much, wished she had seen who they married, and to be a grandmother (and the person that she was). It is just very sad how life happens sometimes.

I just wished she handled her pain a bit better for her safety rather than getting back at the RF for her pain, with regular advisors to her disposal ( not sent from the RF) n the times she saw mother Theresa surely someone would have advised her how to handle things so it doesn't bring her danger or problems, the famous interview n so on backfired on her...where were her friends n a trusted advisor ??...she didn't make the right choices in partners either n that worked against her...surely there were some decent singles men of her calibre living in the UK n of her own background which would have made things easier for her.

If they had any idea about security, they would have had an escort car. The paparazzi wouldn't have had such a great chance had there been an escort vehicle. That was the first of all the mistakes made by the Al Fayed family. Family DNA was used to show that it was the chauffeur's blood which they tested to prove that he was drunk. It was up to the member of the Fayed "security team" to ensure that all passengers were wearing seatbelts. The only passenger in that car wearing a seatbelt was the member of security personnel. Why didn't he insist that all people in that car that night were secure? Even the driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

I'll never forget her. What a beautiful person. Despise her brother who refused to allow her and the boys a holiday at her ancestral home, leading directly to her death. Two-faced man, can't stand him. Blamed the RF and media for his own shortcomings. Can't stand the never ending (however, finally) "queen" for her artificial praise given only due to public outcry. People forget Diana now. So sad that's happened. I cannot imagine anyone's acceptance of Camilla unless they're just really aged, don't mind the hag mistress and are so pro-monarchy, they'll put up with all their poor behavior. Diana was beautiful inside and out. She had great privileges, but great humility, as well.

Thank you for saying it like it is, your one of the rare ppl who admits to it, when I spoke of Charles Spencer some got upset but thats what I see....I too totally dislike Dianas 2 faced brother who benefits from her fame but didn't understand her value after her divorce n the worse part, the guilt trip the whole Spencer family played on her to marry Charles when she changed her mind knowing Charles only loved Camilla, then they blame everything on the RF leaving Diana to fend for herself.

Charles Spencer was a greedy egotistical bstrd who refused Diana's request to move temporarily to Althorp after the divorce. That's why they weren't on speaking terms and that's why Will and Harry barely have any connection with the Spencers. Plus, the Spencers were on the brink of bankrupcy and Althorp was in decay due to lack of funds, but after a short while Diana died suddenly by miracle Charles Spencer found 10 millions to restore Althorp to its former glory. It's not like he extorted loads of hush money from the Windsors or anything like that. Charles Spencer is a weasel who was caught lying more than once.

@@peteregan7864 I guess I should have phrased it differently in that there are so many rules when it comes to being a member of the UK royal family that this should have just been another one. Diana, divorced or not, was the mother of two of the most high profile children in the world. Being so famous herself it's a pity she wasn't advised by someone she trusted that she shouldn't refuse police protection. I can understand why she wanted her 'freedom' but Ken Wharfe himself said Diana always looked to her security detail for guidance when it came to her safety. She and the Queen could have come to some arrangement where Diana could have hand-picked her security instead of the Palace providing her with their people. Someone in her position really needed top-notch security but no-one understood that until it was too late.

One can have the best close protection agent(s) in the world. But if you don't adhere to their instructions/don't heed their advice/don't take your own protection seriously, then the agent(s) are just for "show". No different than wearing a $50k wrist watch. Quite often the wealthy look upon and treat their protection agents as servants. Speaking professionally, I think that Diana would likely be alive today if Inspector Wharfe was her protection agent in Paris, not a private employee under the orders of Al Fayed... Remember that the agent was Al Fayed's, not Diana's. And if she had a flaw, it was that she often trusted the wrong people. I also think there's more to this than will ever be known.
