Nobody knows the time, because theres always repentance, along with many Old Testament Biblical prophecies that have to be fulfilled before the actual end. But our own personal end can be at any time. So we must focus on repenting, because repentance changes ourselves, but also the whole world and can save the world from crisis and other such events.

Dr Herman: After reading comments tonight it hit me: I miss the old days when catechumens were catechumens. The web made us all experts. Fr Stephen Freeman said he didnt write anything publically about the faith for 7 years after he became Orthodox. Perhaps we need a canon. Thank you for your channel, and your ongoing project.

@@ProtectingVeil Thanks. Just read your article & comments. The biggest parts of the problem are 1) polemical apologetics, 2) youthful know-it-all-ism, 3)attacks on clergy, 4)hierarchical issues addressed by laity. 1-3 go together, and people often single out guys like Jay Dyer. But I enjoy Dyer and think he's earned his place at the table. But it's the young copycats who don't have his intellect and who seem to be more interested in becoming Jay than they do becoming Orthodox. #4 for me is the whole baptism vs chrismation thing. Again, I like Fr Peter but I wish he would have limited his work in this area to clergy conferences and synods. Combox neophyte experts should not be weighing in on this topic. Your suggestions of both a waiting period and reception of a clergy blessing before embarking on an OrthoKZbin career are probably the best, and most Orthodox, solutions.

Seek first the Kingdom of Heaven. Not everyone one who laments the evil of the world is being necessarily condematory. We are called to be good Samaritans and in a world that is headlong into debauchery of all kinds of evil many caution their brothers and sisters to a better direction. We do not get to look in the mirror and say I am first among sinners but let our brothers walk off a cliff.

What about the current Catholic pope? With the things he as said and done of the last couple of years, how can we not think he has been compromised? How do we deal with seeing him do as he does and not talk about it? If anyone can answer this, I would appreciate it.

@@SS-je9ue I believe it does matter which calendar you are on if you are Orthodox. Why would an Orthodox Christian wish to follow the rubics of the Roman catholic church? Why would Orthodox folk choose to abandon Tradition? Why hold the truth of Orthodoxy whilst aligning with ecumenism? Why celebrate feast days with Luther when you can celebrate with the Holy fathers? One could go on and the whole subject can be a minefield! No, I do not think all new calendarists are going to hell, but I think I may do unless I repent and become a better Christian. ☦️☦️☦️

@Simonet1309 Seems odd that a conversation regarding end times invites a response concerning the calendar. Since you are passionate about the calendar I am glad to see you hold those that are on the new calendar are not going to hell. Regarding your additional comments: Personnaly, I will let the Holy Spirit and the Saints decide who they will worship with in the canonical church after all we are all first among sinners.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think the Bishop is saying that it's more important to grow in repentance and humility through the Sacraments to face the end of the world than simply noticing and condemning the external evil that pervades.

I believe his point is that focusing your attention onto attempting to survive the end of the world neglects our spiritual needs which are the only true survival

Yes, well said. To be honest as a fellow Orthodox (Oriental) I find some of the Eastern Orthodox leaders in some cases come close to the error of Gnostism in a general broad sense - that they feel perfect knowledge will save you...this is not true, its the obedience and following of Christs commandments that will save you. You dont need to know all things nor be a perfect theologian to be saved, rather faith and right practice is what really matters. Peace, love and communion and humble prayer and better than many other things....Some claim only they are saved which is a sure sign of arrogant pride unfortunately....Christ ordained 12 Apostles, not just one. Its one body made up of many members - each member being different churches....Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox etc...

I’m sorry but your ecclesiology is gnostic. When you refuse a particular church to be the church, you are refusing the continuation of the incarnation in a particular context. In making the church an invisible thing, it becomes gnosticism.

@@nc4042 Yes, I dont exclude anyone who is Apostolic from the Apostles and so agree that you cannot exclude any Apostolic Church as would be in error and that still includes the Catholic faith even though they are not strong like they once were. To say otherwise is to deny scripturual prophesy about the body of the church. The thinking of only we are saved is a false view.
