God bless! I'm a recent convert to Catholicism from Protestantism. This is beautiful and I appreciate your channel. Great to see us not at each other's throats like the devil wants. May the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit bless you, guide you, and keep you.

Austin has such a gift as an interviewer who can extract information without competing with his interviewee. His humble, gentle manner allows him to teach using his interlocutors as his instruments. The Holy Spirit at work. Thank you. Always a delight.

I really appreciated this interview. We've incorporated some aspects of monasticism into our own home. We have three set times for prayer, morning, evening and night. And we often jave what we call "quiet time" which is a period of about an hour when we go about our activities in silence. No TV, tablets etc during this time. Lastly we have a set time for cleaning up usually before night prayer which precedes bed time.

Austen: after 5 years monastic experience (Franciscan) one can well imagine my spiritual anxiety when I listen to you and others explain what Catholics believe. I jump up and down shouting … “there’s more to it than that”, “that’s only half it”, it’s the love god has for all creation that allows humans to carry the body and blood of Christ out in a dynamic incarnation of Jesus Christ the son of god to others. I often say our faith is not only for ourselves. True . I’m stuck being passionate about catholic stuff. Oh well…

Wow. This was fantastic. Austin your questions were right on 👏 I really appreciate your final question as I’m a mother to a young child, but feel so drawn to religious life. But I can’t because I’m a mum. I really really appreciate that you asked that question for those of us who yearn for more but cannot enter the monastic/religious life for various reasons. Also, I appreciate your level of respect and care you give when asking questions, you always check that you are using the correct terms, your very polite and dignified. I’m so pleased you were able to experience the monastery! Wow! Thank you for your on going videos and also all the best with your upcoming wedding 💐

A Simple Question For The Christians, Can God Be Deceived By Satan The Temptation of Christ is a biblical narrative detailed in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke. After being baptised by John the Baptist, Jesus was tempted by the devil for 40 days and nights in the Judaean Desert. During this time, Satan came to Jesus and tried to tempt him This verse is enough to prove Jesus is not God

How is the fact that Jesus who was FULLY MAN and FULLY GOD was tempted as all humans are? He did not submit to Satan but experienced what humans experience.

What a suprise. I spent many happy days at Chist in the Desert in the 1990's, but have hardly been back in this century, so I didn't even know there was a daughter house in Chicago. Quite a different environment.

St Benedict and the Benedictine Rule is thoroughly Orthodox as well. There are Benedictine Western rite Orthodox monasteries too. In the rule it pays homage to the Great St Basil. As well as recommending the reading of St Cassian who brought to the west what he learned among the desert dwellers in Egypt.

Dear Austin, I always enjoy your interviews. You are very thoughtful in your questions and I love watching you on your journey. Thank you for taking us along for the ride. I grew up Catholic and converted to Orthodoxy about 12 years ago at age 33 when I too also went on my journey. This video was nice to see since its been a long time since I have been in a Benedictine monastery here in Atchison KS. I have not been to any Orthodox monasteries here in the US, but there are quite a few. I have only visited some in Romania as that is where my wife is from. I just wanted to bring to your attention St. Anthony's monastery in Arizona if you are not already aware of it. It seems to be truly a miracle for such paradise to be constructed in the desert. I included a link below to a video about the monastery and about the monk, Elder Ephraim, who came from Mt. Athos and established it. He also established 17 more around the US after this one. There are so many videos about this Elder who will definitely become a Saint in the Orthodox church some day. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKC4c2yjjtKBd9U God Bless and thanks for all you do. In Christ, Joshua

@@1Hope4All my dear brother. In Matthew 16:18, the word “rock” refers to Peter’s confession of faith, and not to Peter himself, despite the fact that Peter/rock is a play on the word for rock in Aramaic [cephas] and Greek [petros]. The keys to the kingdoms given to Peter are the keys given to all of who confess that Christ is the son of God, the Messiah. As we read in 1 Corinthians 10:4, “...they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ,” Who alone is the very foundation, or true Rock, upon which stands the Church. It is on Jesus Christ, the Rock, that the Church’s unchanging faith and confession is firmly rooted. You can early church fathers saying the same. I orthodoxchristiantheology.com/2016/01/28/matthew-1618-papal-infallibility-and-patristic-interpretations/ The interpretation the Catholic Church gives is not how the early church operates nor saw it. Not for 1000 years did the bishop of Rome appoint or try to appoint bishops in east.

The greatest that ever lived; He had no servants, yet they called Him Master. He had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher. He had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer. He had no army, yet Kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world. He had no crime, yet they crucified Him. He had no need, yet He forgave them as they mocked. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today. His name is Jesus Christ and He is the saviour of the world.

Unfortunately, there's an implicit, unhealthy, one-sided, power relation going on here that undermines any kind of ecumenical endeavour. You should have allowed yourself to be interviewed by a monk - if only for balance and to mitigate against any impression of bigotry. But that did not seem to occur to you, which is a pity.
@carlpeterson8182

CONTENT SUGGESTION: Since Luther was an Augustinian friar, I suggest visiting Augustinian communities in your area. Since you're in Illinois, you may check around Illinois, Michigan and Oklahoma. Maybe St. Rita of Cascia High School in Chicago would work (not that I know who are currently assigned there, since I'm from the Philippines 😅), but you may also consider other communities and schools like Merrimack College (Boston) and Villanova University (Philadelphia) 💘 Here are their websites and ministries in the US.
