the Republican strategy to rewrite history is an attempt to justify their 40 year terror and murder campaign. The Bogside riots was the start of their lust for violence. Here is the Protestant view of the violence started by Republicans.

Does that go the other way then? Castlederg republicans are planning an IRA commemoration parade through the town at the end of July, a town that has had a population brutalized for 40 years by the IRA including 25 murders of local Protestants. Should this parade go ahead in a mixed town?

The only reason for any of the fighting in this Island was caused by your ancestors who chose to come over here and kill, burn and steal the native Irish lands and communities so any atrocities that you say happend on either side of the divide after the plantations can all be traced back to your ancestors choices so don't try to put the blame on anyone else when plantation was the cause of all of this.

When you read the description, it attempts to portray this as the 'true' side of history. It's being used as Loyalist propaganda to try and justify the rioting from one side and not the other. It is vital to show both sides. It is ridiculous to show simply the Protestant side and not the other and use it as some sort of justification. I've seen this documentary. Lets just say it does not reflect well on Derry's Unionist community.

Somme Heroes Youre wrong suprise suprise,Im NOT an Irish Republican,im an Englishman who wants shot of Northern Ireland as quick as we can.and millions more think like i do.Ask 95% of people in England what July 12th is best known for and they wouldnt know.it matters fuck all to people here. And the way Unionist politicans in the 60s rigged electoral boundaries to get unionist majorities in a nationalist city is probably half the reason this riot happened..If you think the English people away from the BNP and EDL want Northern Ireland youre very mistaken

It's so interesting to be watching this stuff right now, as it's a preview of what is happening in the US. With the exact same arguments on each side. I'd like to see what would happen if Confederate reenactors marched through a ghetto in an American city!! Theodore Allen wrote that "America Is Ulster Writ Large." I always watch this kind of stuff for historical perspective.

The English were devious enough to set one group they despised (Scots) against an island they wished to colonize and turn into a plantation (Ireland). Give the Scots a group they could feel they are better than. Give then ill begotten land they would come to think of as theirs and die to defend. A victim can become a bully awfully quick in situations like that, just look at Israel. Centuries later the island is still scarred.

The RUC was the armed wing of the Unionists, they were more paramilitary than a normal police force with less than 5% Catholics in their ranks and were absolutely detested by the nationalist community for which they in turn had nothing but contempt , 50 years of abusive Unionism led to a toxic Irish stew that was always going to end badly, if they had treated the Catholics with respect and fairly regards housing and employment the Troubles would never have happened, all violence is regrettable but you reap what you sow , fortunately things have improved since the 60’s but there’s still lot to do to make Northern Ireland a great place for everyone to live without fear of violence or prejudice.

Before the Troubles Northern Ireland was the most law abiding part of the UK, Just like the Nazis(whom they admired) Fascist elements amongst the Nationalist community inflated minor grievances to such an extent with evil and skilful propaganda ,that under the cover of "Civil Rights" marches and claims of discrimination a situation was manufactured where violence led to counter violence initiating a tragic cycle of violence The Troubles in the country should NEVER have reached that extent and the killings and suffering that went on for decades could and should have stopped in a brief period of time.
