@@Mrveryblue CATHOLIC people generally deny that prayers are offered to Mary and the saints and insist that they only ask Mary and the saints to pray for them, just as one might ask of a friend. But this is a deceit widely promoted by catholic people. CATHOLIC do worship Mother Mary..!! Look at the CATHOLIC petitions of Mary.. Rosary! You know that Rosary is the most repeated prayer to Mary. It concludes with this final petition: Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy ! Our life, Our sweetness, and Our hope !. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs , mourning and weeping, in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious Advocate , thine eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, JESUS; O clement, O loving,O sweet virgin Mary. Quite clearly, Catholic do not merely ask Mary to pray for them. They pray to her. And why not, if she is all that the Rosary says she is: our life and our hope ? . The Bible, however, says that Christ is" our life and hope " Even if your contention is otherwise ; that you people only ask her to pray for them, then there arise another question..!! Is it possible for mother Mary to hear and assimilate millions of prayers simultaneously in hundreds of different languages and dialects so that she can pray for us ?!! Isn't that capability an attribute of GOD alone?!! And bible says "GOD is love "(1john 4:8 ;4:16)and we love because HE first loved us (1john4:19). So it is very clear that love originate from GOD. And GOD showed HIS love for us, becoming a man to take our sins upon himself and paid the penalty assessed against us by dieing in our place . Furthermore, didn't GOD'S mercy exist long before Mary was even born?? We read of the "GOD of my mercy "(psalm59:17) and are encouraged to trust in the mercy of GOD (psalm 52:8,Luke 1:78;etc)but we never read a word in the entire bible Mary's mercy towards mankind. Regardless of what any individual CATHOLIC like you may believe, the teachings of CATHOLIC church and practice of the vast majority of her members elevates Mary to a position where she's at least equal in power to GOD and is considered to be far more sympathetic than HE..!! NO WONDER, then,that CATHOLICS by the hundreds of millions perpetually offer prayers to Mary for every need and desire.

Former protestant. I can say that one of the biggest differences to me looking at modern evangelical worship vs Catholic is who is centered on the altar. On most non-denominational stages you will find the worship band front and center. The concert experience is now the high point of Sunday morning with the sermon a mere afterthought. The neon lights, the black backdrops, the trendy outfits.. it all seems so shallow now. I suppose that many sincere Christian people love the Lord and go to such churches. I can only pray the Holy Spirit will lead them to the truth.

2 points: Firstly, I see a TON of these kinds of videos online, that assume that all Protestant music is praise band rock concert crap that is utterly devoid of any kind of theological or spiritual richness and value. There are actually many Protestant church bodies that don't worship in this way, as a Confessional Lutheran we use only hymns, chant, and sacred music that is sung in a reverent way. Secondly, some of the greatest composers and musicians in history were Protestant, with Bach, Handel, Mendelssohn, being great examples. Personally, I find Buxtehude's organ pieces to be some of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. I'd highly encourage Lutherans/Catholics/Protestants alike to check out his Passacaglia in D minor or his Prelude in F# minor.

Oh boy, worship is not a style of music but a position of the heart. I would agree that some artists or groups often miss the mark of worship, but to say that the song "our God is an awesome God"can't be or isn't worship is very strange. Further, songs in Apostolic churches are often sung in Latin... Latin. Same rule applies however, the position of the heart is to be praise to God and that would include reverence. The Bible lists tambourines, stringed instruments, pipes and horns, voices etc. Not to mention the songs in psalms sound nothing like this either in language or style. Again, the position of the heart is the key. That could include style for the worshipper however, but to diminish the other is unfounded.

As a convert to Catholicism in the making, I have to disagree with this generalization. I don’t think God refuses to hear the worship of individuals who are genuine, even if it has worldly qualities. God does not limit worship to being within particular musical boundaries. For example, imagine this exact hymn but with someone playing along on acoustic guitar along. Is their worship now invalid? At what point is there too much instrumentality? This is not to say that Protestant music is good or better than Catholic music, though. I think The Voice of Reason approaches this topic with the right level of nuance, implicitly acknowledging the possibility of true worship with Protestant music, but it is still so clear that Catholic music is better.
@irishandscottish1829 Жыл бұрын
@@Wilkins325it would depend on how the guitar is being played. Catholic worship allows musical instruments however they have to always point to heaven and most certainly not be a ‘look at what I can play’ As children the sister at our parish would ensure to find out what children played what instruments as she was insistent that children who are involved in the Mass understand the worship of the Mass better. I played my cello at some Masses (I can only dread to think how awful I sounded as a child playing) but I also had the hymnal sheet music book my parents bought where I practised for hours upon hours the whole week so I could play it the best I could for God. There has to be a balance in music where instruments accompanying doesn’t stop it being worship but I’m sorry the show Protestant music is is not accompanying music that is theatric music

@@gjpets5506how about you actually go read what the Catholic Church says about Mary instead of making claims without understanding what you are saying. Every person that worships a foreign god, always says the idol is a god, Catholics never once say Mary is god. That’s the simple reality. She’s in heaven. Gave birth to God. What other woman in history gave birth to God ? Really consider that. So you don’t think she should be honored in a special way differently than you, I and our mom’s? And before answering that question, really think about the fact she gave birth to our God. And again in no way, shape or form is she equivalent to God. But she’s not as Protestants say “just a vessel”. I don’t know, to me that’s disrespecting Jesus cause that is his mother. And considering Jesus followed all the commandments perfectly which means he honored his father and mother, means he has a deep respect for his mother. The same way you kiss your mom on the cheek and hug her and tell her you love her is the same thing Jesus did to Mary. Yes it’s not explicitly described in the Bible. But again, look at Jesus’s life. He had to be literally nursed at her breast. Yes he’s God but at one point he was a child, and a child that chose to be vulnerable. Meaning he needed parents to care for him emotionally, and physically. If it didn’t matter who his parents were, why was he given as a child to a virgin full of grace and Joseph a Just man?

Catholics don't worship idols either. Simply having images of Christ is not idol worship. We also don't claim that the Pope can do any miracles. If God grants him the ability to peform miracles, then fine, but the Pope himself is but a man. He does not have the power to independently perform miracle, nor do any Catholics claim he does. Catholics also worship Christ and believe in his word. We only follow the words of bishops if they do not contradict with the words of Christ. If they contradict, then we will not follow them.

Ehhh, the abandonment of hierarchy is a fruit of modernism and feminism. Hierarchy is in heaven. God the father, Jesus the son, and the Holy Spirit are the top. Michael is the head archangel, and trickles down to (I don’t know the exact order) archangels, seraphim, principalities, powers, etc. God is Order. So his kingdom on earth would reflect how it is in heaven. It’s not a free for all in heaven. We clearly know there’s distinction in ranks. And this is an obvious truth. Even demons are hierarchically ordered. Again this disorder of “no leader” is a fruit of modernism and feminism. If there’s no leader than it’s ultimately a free for all power grab of infinite number of heresies and interpretations never getting to the true meaning of the church of Christ. An army without a captain will die. And yea go ahead and say Christ is the captain. That’s an obvious truth. Why does he tell Peter to feed his sheep? If Peter isn’t greater (in terms of rank) to the other apostles and disciples. And Catholics do not do idol worship but I won’t express this point cause right now I just want to establish hierarchy is a good thing. And it’s the very reason men are able to walk in their God given authority correctly. Cause everything is properly ordered. So again, I would reevaluate what you said. God bless

God is spirit. I don’t care about the music or not music. The most important is to worship Him all of your heart the truth and spirit

True, however, there’s also Protestant music that is more heavenly. For example, the choir at your local Southern Baptist church. Edit: Btw, this is coming from a Catholic.

Protestant music sounds like you love God because you are entertained or happy, but if you are not: Uh oh!

I think both kinds have thier merits. The traditional music really helps one relax. They get into a mystical mindset. Maybe this is what Heaven sounds like. The modern music helps people be engaged in worshop. It is fun. Fun is a powerful tool to help people get into religion or other important thing. I am glad Christian rock exists. I think of it as a solution to the Jesus scandal of the Beatles. The Beatles demonstrated that rock is a powerful way to engage an audience. If this rock is used in church, then it can help people be invested in worshop.

I'm a protestant but I totally agree with this. Modern protestant/CCM music has always sounded kind of cheesy to me. Except Sarah Liberman I would highly recommend checking her stuff out.

If I want to get fired up about my faith, I'll listen to mainstream Christian music. If I want to get into a contemplative mood for Mass or Confession, I'll listen to Gregorian chants to get into the frame of mind for reverance

The United States is the biggest Protestant country. Mexico is the biggest Catholic country. Compare those two countries and tell me which one sounds more successful? I'm Mexican btw. Catholicism forbids priests to Marry when it's specifically allowed in the bible. The book of Timothy mentions that not allowing marriage is false doctrine. I'm not saying Catholics aren't Christians, they are. I am saying they will lag behind Protestants because many doctrines aren't correct.

Forbidding priests to Mary is more of a policy, not a doctrine. Why is that such a big deal?

I’ve never had music elevate me. What do you think it means to be given a new heart and new mind. When the Spirit of God moved men to speak and write the scriptures He moved them. If He moves a man to sing a song that song is anointed by God. Jesus said “My words are Spirit and they are life” and His words flow from the Spirit of God in men anointed by God. It was the Spirit of the Father who gave Peter the ability to hear that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. That is the rock Jesus Christ is building His church on. It’s the beauty of God that matters and not the beauty of men or their voices. Go listen to a song called “Jerusalema.” That song is probably the most anointed Christian song I’ve ever listened to other than “Fly” by Jason Upton.
