Honestly its a tie for me, im waiting for them to make another just imagining how much better another game in the series could be if given the time to develop and brainstorm new powers , activities , stories, a better open world, the works. It adds a certain element of charm to the game. The game was and is fun, but, the developers somewhat knew there were limitations to the game engine, and as such they needed to compensate for the lower graphics of the game. Though, they compensated very well, and this game series will be one I will always remember because of the story and cutscenes.

i just had a realization a while back; a new theory for what mercer could have been planning before and after heller messed up his white light plan we all reckon mercer let himself lose and it makes sense; he's NOT fighting at his peak here, he's just making sure heller knows what he's doing; mercers not using any of his main abilities from the the first prototype; no sheilds, no devastators, no armour, nothing; he's just making sure heller knows how to use HIS but recall somthing important: a reason for mercer turning evil; it could be that, after the comics that he felt humans were not worthy of being saved, but thats the thing; "humans"; maybe if mercer changed them from 'human' to 'evolved' there be no more betrayel and heartbreak like mercer experienced....but somthing more important: mercer would have an army to help him face off against pariah; elizabeth greene's son remember, in the first game, pariah is kept seperate from elizabeth, he's nowhere NEAR new york and his power.....as a CHILD he was responsible for multiple deaths think about it; mercer was an artificial 'prototype', it was the virus being taken from elizabeth greenes blood and being tweaked and manipulated and taking a dead man and using him as its new identity elizbethe green was merley the carrier for the virus and pariah, nothing more james heller might very well be more watered down: the blood taken from a carrier, aftering being tweaked and manipulated and then using a dead man to get around; now infects heller it is a new theory i have that mercer originally wanted to create an army of evolved under HIS command to fight pariah; a pure form of the virus that he and heller are artifiical copies of but then heller ruins his plan, and mercer decides waste not want not and tries to consume him: but then.....heller is able to resist he resisted being consumed; mercers anger at heller ruining his plan to make an army plus this new knowlege that he can resist being consumed? maybe heller could be of use if heller consumed mercer and the group of evolved he had with him....maybe heller could fight pariah, and hopfully pariah wouldnt be able to consume heller, if mercer couldnt, heres hoping pariah cant so plant went like this mercers angry at humans but decides...maybe i can save them from themselves, plus he's gonna need an army of evolved to fight against pariah when the time comes then heller resists being consumed and plans change - now the plans to let heller take over the reins, he has a better chance at survival then mercer at least....but mercer wants to at least know that heller can fight somthing as simple as him when he's only using claws and whips; after all, we and by extension, mercer, dont know WHAT pariah can do after all theres a slight telling if heller dies when fighting mercer in one of his lines when heller dies "get up.....ah.....your kidding me" he says it with such....disapoinment; like all the plans and hopes mercer had for him just went up in flames: if it was only about getting rid of heller because he ruined mercers plans for making an army he'd be a bit more optomistic after all, heller's gone, now there are no 'evolved' like himself working against him to make an army; he just has to grab some white light left lying around somwhere, or make some himself and release it by hand and boom, he's back on track its because mercer wants heller to take over the reins of the 'evolved fighting pariah' sure, heller might not have an army of evolved to back him up now, and he sure as hell wont make one - but heller can resist being consumed key bit of information that backs this up is back in prototype 1: remember the boss battles where the boss wanted to actually win? the supreme hunter? that BIG motherfucker that we fight in the hive and then on the deck of the carrier? now how HARD would those fights have been if we had NO minions to consume to regain our health? that mother fucker RUNS at us like a train and hits like one too; our ONLY hope against that bastard is to leg it and do hit and run tactics he gives us NO room to breath cause he's ALWAYS coming for us and his teeth are always only inches away from our ass - if we stop for too long we gonna get a face full of fist and lose a big chunk of health but we get minions to feed off of; the infected and the soldiers; which gives us our health back i reckon mercer must remember that and thinks if heller was just another evolved like him or his minions, pariah would just eat us or our minions and get any health he lost back but if its ONE ON ONE; heller vs pariah, and pariah has NO minions nearby to consume, and he cant just consume heller.....heller might have a better chance at winning imagine a one on one fight between us in prototype 1. YOU vs the supreme hunter, NO minions to get health back; its anyones guess; but its better then pariah simply grabbing you and consuming you

@midgerm that was a great explanation. You can add one thing as well though it is only a guess. alex hand was cut off and we saw from the end of prototype 1 he can regenerate as long as there is a peice of him. So there is a good explanation if he ever returns in prototype 3.

I also recall there being a theory that Mercer got corrupted by Greene and Supreme Hunter when he absorbed them and eventually turned into the Mercer from Prototype 2. This theory was supported by the fact that Mercer gets overwhelmed by memories when he absorbed Targets of Importance and Cross was able to use certain words to incapacitate Mercer during their fight to inject the Parasite into him. So it’s possible that an older and more experienced Evolved like Greene would have far more memories to absorb, and the Supreme Hunter who was able to match Mercer would also have absorbed a lot of Infected/Soldiers to get to Mercer’s level. Mercer getting blown into paste by the Nuke could have also played a part in it, since Mercer was the primary “Mind”, him being reduced to a primal state of mind could have left him vulnerable to Greene or Supreme Hunter’s mind to takeover, or at the very least root itself into the Mercer Hivemind before completely taking over later when Mercer lost faith in Humanity.

I miss these games. I think Prototype 1 wins in terms of narrative direction. Prototype 2 kind of lacked in that aspect but I think it improved in every other way. Heller was also my favourite of the two protagonists. Mercer just felt a little dry to me in comparison. Also Heller at 0:49 in the video is phenomenal haha.

You know, we just got Dead Space remastered. They remastered Resident Evil 2 and 3, and we're getting 4 later this year, I believe. I would love to see Prototype 1 and 2 get the same treatment, but include all of the quality of life improvements from P2 into P1.

Theres a comic that takes place after Prototype 1 when Alex survives the nuke explosion. Basically after that incident, Alex started slowly losing faith in humanity and left New York to travel around the world to try to regain that lost spark. After his world quest, he saw so much horrible shit done by humans, including a girl he once had genuinely liked, steal all his money from him and shoot him in the face to admit she did it all selfishly for herself. After all that, Mercer reached the ultimate conclusion that mankind was shitty and not worth saving, thus leading to him developing a god complex purge humanity to create a new world, letting off the virus in New York a second time and kicking off the events of Prototype 2.
