Smaller spools, put the spools on the back of the hand instead of secured at the wrist. Second spool on forearm to the back of the hand to track flexion towards self. Well hand tracking is something that many vr headsets already offer, and they do it pretty damn well. The Oculus Quest and Quest 2 for example have a feature where you can put down the controllers and only use your hands to select, scroll, grab, etc. It's really cool stuff, especially when you first see it, and you don't need a glove or anything.

That form of hand tracking is more of a party trick for demos than something useful in game (for now at least). It’s not just software issues no headset has hardware right now to make hand tracking worth while.

@Ariedum But the Index controllers have so many more capabilities. Their charge most likely lasts longer. More precise tracking. It also gives real feedback when you touch objects or something touches you. Also, it has a trigger and several buttons, which are great for shooting games, or controlling UI. It also has a track pad so you can use your normal PC. I'd say big tech definitely has it thought out. Also, that's not $20

Adding that would be kinda complicated because it would require the vr engine to give extra information to the device. So, games would have to implement this or somehow openvr could provide an interface for it. At the end of the day, it would probably only work with a compatible games or modded ones.

@@TheRanguna Maybe, but they would be pretty simple mods to make. Significantly easier than making the gloves in the first place. All you have to do is just activate the force feedback when a game registers something as being “picked up”
